I am also starting the program in January... with a concentration in Marketing.
Anyone know anything about MKT 710 or Aadel Darrat as a professor? I'm trying to decide what class (or 2) to take for my first semester / Spring AP1

I took Dr. Darrat for MKT 701 and thought he did a good job. I believe I was in the first course he taught and the format was different from the MKT 701 that Dr. James does. We had weekly discussion questions, 4 case studies, and 3 exams. The weekly discussions were easy 100's and the case studies were pretty simple as well. Read the provided case, write 1500 words, APA format, etc. The exams were the tricky part. He provided PPT slides as study material but several of the questions on the exam seemed to be from another source. He did curve them though. I ended up pulling out an "A" in his MKT 701 course while doubling it with ACCT so take that FWIW.

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and half-way done with the program. I've decided to specialize in finance and have a question regarding Fin 710 and Fin 720. Is it doable if I paired Econ 705 with one of these? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone know if Shaughnessy scales or makes any adjustments? I noticed he has put up a spreadsheet with average scores of each question. There are several with very low averages (50% of the class got them wrong).

@ Aurebelman, no he doesn't but its worth a try if you have a low score he can definitely be generous to curve.

Jaguar44, FIN classes are typically doable pairings. They aren't easy but generally don't have assignments other than preparing for tests. You should be fine with that pairing.

festivalsandfitness, I'm hoping to start in Jan with a finance concentration. How long did it take you to get notification of acceptance? All of my transcripts are in as of Friday.

Anyone know anything about HCAD 750? I'm scheduled to take it Spring AP2 and the reviews on the professor are less than stellar. It's an MHA class but now it's being offered to MBA students in Data Analytics. I know it's a long shot but I figured I would ask. TIA

I'll be in it with you, though I'm still waiting for my concentration to be updated to "Data Analytics." I put the request in last week.

The unfortunate reality is that the LSU MHA program is just not represented in this forum topic, so it will never reach the first page of a student's Google search. Maybe if we start talking about the LSUS MHA a whole bunch we can somehow push it up the Google results by volume and then some MHA students will end up in here who've taken the HCAD 750 course.

I'm really interested in the Project Management Specialization due to the credentials/certifications that it can lead to. Anyone else specializing in it?

I can't figure out why this ISDS 705 class was moved to a core class over 702. I'm getting absolutely nothing out of it. Just finished reading a chapter about Facebook, Twitter, and blogs.

I like the Project Management specialization, too. Unfortunately, I have already taken some electives so I will do General Business.

I do plan on taking one of the Project Management classes next term.

My guess is because the content of the course is more relevant in society today. Do like I am and take ISDS 702 as an elective.

Speaking of ISDS 702, which is offered next semester, does anyone know about it? How does it compare to ISDS 705?

sejaxon, I spoke a little too early. The admissions guy told me approximately a week till I hear anything. I submitted last Tuesday and today I got an email back saying they need a resume from me to move forward. I sent that in and am hoping I hear something back this week. Let me know if you hear anything back. Any idea what class or classes you are taking in January? I'm thinking about ACCT 701 and FIN 701

You are probably correct but they would need to update the text more often. Some of the social media sites they discuss are already dead and buried but sites like Instagram aren't even mentioned.

I'm FIN specialization so all my electives were FIN classes. I had the choice of either 702 or 705 as my core due to my enrollment date but 702 never fit my schedule.

I think the main reason was that ISDS 705 is a general overview of how IT applies to business. It's my understanding that ISDS 702 is much more specific in its focus. Also, I believe that ISDS 702 is considered one of the more difficult courses in the program so this may be a way to make graduation requirements a little lighter for those uninterested in that particular field.

HCAD 705 was one of my choices also but i changed my mind based on the professors reviews on rate my professor. I work in the medical field so i thought it may be a good elective to take. Like you i wish we could find people in the MHA program to talk too.
