Mtntreks - I agree. I am doing well in the course (also carrying an A), but I do find that it takes me a lot of time to work through the EOM assignment. This is my first course in the program so I was not sure if this was just the norm.

I have yet to take a course that let me feel like I could still have a life
I'm just the opposite... I thought ECON was one of the least demanding of time but that the material was a total drag.

ECON was not an overload of material but I had the hardest time understanding the concepts and transferring it to the excel/math parts. It was my first course in the program and that might have had something to do with it. The most demanding and leech of my time was MADM 701. I did end up enjoying the material learned but the workload and busywork was ridiculous!!

A coworker of mine took ECON 705 Spring AP2 and was able to put forth less effort than I currently am having to because he was able to find answers to most everything online. Ended up passing with a high B with no effort.

Does anyone have a copy of the FIN701 syllabus? I am taking it in August. Also, if someone could send me some examples of the conceptual questions so I can know what I'm getting into that would be wonderful. From what I've read they're hard.

FIN 701 isn't bad at all. It was my first course in the program so I didn't know what to expect either. If you're taking Dr. Vines, you'll be fine. For the practice problems he gives you, I recommend becoming familiar with Excel and utilizing it. It'll make the course much easier.

I can't remember off the top of my head what come of the conceptual questions were. If I did and told you on here without you having any preparation in the course you would be probably be terrified to take the class. If you study, join in on the zoom sessions, and give a good effort you will do fine.

ECON 705
I'm also in the course and I think the toughest part is the jump in difficulty of the content as you move through each week. The video quizzes are easy and the self assessment is just slightly more difficult.

Then you get to the EOM assessment and at times it's difficult to know what is being asked of you. I think the problem is that each chapter of the book gives you new tools/formulas to use but with very little context on when to use them. That seems to be exactly what the EOM assessments are testing for.

Regardless, I still have an 'A' in the course as well and this is a heck of a lot easier (and more fair) than BADM 701, the Econ/Stats pre-req. That's the worst class I've taken in the program.

Hey all. Can someone send me the syllabus for MADM 751 w/ Meeks? Im thinking of pairing MADM 751 and ACCT 701 w/Ambrosio. Any thoughts on the pairing would be greatly appreciated. Ive heard good things about both classes but I know that ACCT is moving exclusively to Moodle so I'm really hoping its not increasing in difficulty.

Thanks in advance!

Winchester, I have the exact same plan as you. Let's hope we can get some insights from others on this.

MADM 751 with ACCT701 should be a good pairing.
This would be a no-brainer if ACCT701 was still cengage.

ACCT 701 with Cengage was really easy and Ambrosio is good at explaining things. I'm assuming not much change in difficulty, as really the course is all about reading and understanding financial statements, so I doubt it's too much harder.

MADM 751 is great! Watch a bunch of youtube videos, do writing for the week, and then some group work via zoom which is so-so but easy. It's a nice mix of topics and nothing is particularly difficult. Meeks is a super lenient grader too. I think I ended the course with over 100% thanks to extra credit opportunities.

He does examples that basically show you how to do the assignment from questions and records them. Seemed like a teacher that tried to do a good job of helping people with questions. The problem is Econ uses basic calculus. It usually is take a derivative or integral. Or maybe use regression which is used in several classes.

His lectures / videos are extremely well done, no question. Thus far all the calculus needed is just using the derivative power rule to find the slope of a line, so I'm not sure that that's terribly hard to do.

There is no question that some people are struggling with the EOM assignments. He really does explain pretty much everything that is needed and even takes people through like examples.

I am spending a lot more time on this class than on others, but the material isn't bad just tedious and time consuming. I do appreciate seeing real world examples, as it makes it easier to see how to apply the material and not just be stuck in theory land.

Right now I'm scheduled to take FIN 730 Financial Markets with Dr. Choi in last term of 2017. It will be my last class. My only other option is MADM 720, which I've heard is heavy in busy-work so not excited about it.

Dr. Choi's bio says he's a full-time professor at Univ. of Alabama so teaching this course on contract. I worry about the difficulty of this class. Has anyone taken 730 yet that could share experience? Not sure if Choi has taught it yet at LSUS or if this will be his first class.

in Madm 720 right now with kim williams. it is not that bad. open book quizes 10 questions 25 minutes no proctoring. weekly 200 word discussion and 2 100 word responses. 3 case studies (2 pages worth of writing or less double spaced). and a leadership portfolio which is basically a journal. and a final.
