Jesus was tortured so that you may have everlasting life. Giant troll on the enemy, I agree

Why would a loving God need the torture and blood sacrifice of a human in order to allow sins to be forgiven?

How did he "defeat sin"

I thought he gave us free will to sin?

Also.

How come whenever something great happens "God was looking out" or "God wanted it to happen"
But when someone dies "It was his plan"

How come he is absolved of all blame for all the bad that he does?

I don't want that though.

I imagine it as living with all the squares and holy roller types, forever and ever and ever and ever.

When I die, I want to shut my eyes and everything to just stop.

Just in case you haven't heard this before, I'll share it.

The Jewish are God's chosen. god is upset that they do not accept Jesus, yet he still loves them (as you would love a rebellious child).

When you read Genesis is Hebrew, the language of God's chosen and before any translations ever, the text doesn't refer to the six "days" of creation as earth days.

I can't type Hebrew but you should research it, especially if you are truly so concerned for the facts.

The text reads that these six "time periods" were times of chaos, then restored order.

Who knows how long it lasted in earth days? The sun wasn't even created at first, so how would an earth day even make sense at the start of creation?

Try learning about the history of the universe from another source besides the Bible and you might not be so confused

And that perspective is fine. Theories are just that, theories. They are our current best understanding of the way things are. Science is the search for understanding, nothing more, nothing less.

It's not like gravity didn't exist just because we didn't understand it at one point. Things are the way they are and that doesn't change, the way we understand it may though

The fact that you didn't grasp what he's saying means you're not qualified for added input.

My Jewiness can never pass up a free lunch!

I'd be delighted to discuss these issues with you as a Catholic with a scientific background.

I grasped what he was saying but its irrelevant. 6 days could be 6 million years to god blah blah blah. Its a creation myth. No need to try to fit it in with reality.
