You know the saying 2 happiest days are getting it and selling it....whats the deal w that? They referring to all the maintenance?

Because they are whiners. Boats are awesome. Can't imagine not having one.

People say that about used boats. It's like buying a used trailer x400. No matter what you do, the lights are gonna quit working again

My bay boat seems to break something every time we fish. That's probably why. We split the costs then I'm stuck paying th other hundred or hundreds it costs to fix it.

99% of boat owners do not know every in and out of their boat/motor and boat owners are typically pretty dumb people

Dumb people??
Maybe dumb about fixing a boat but that's painting with a pretty broad brush don't ya think?

I love my boat, my wallet does not. Its been sitting in the shop since the tuesday after memorial day waiting on a new lower unit and new carb bowls.
Supposed to be ready this week, and for my sanity's sake it got damn well better be. I NEED to go fishing

Some little thing is going to stop working and it will be frustrating to fix. Like my live well right now and the courtesy lights

If you store & repair & maintain it properly you will not have any issues

I went through withdrawal when I didn't have one for a few years...The only people I know that have problems with them don't buy smart - beat them to pieces trying to do things in them that they're not built to do...usually because they didn't spend the money on the front side for what they truly needed in a boat for the type of activities they wanted to do in them...

Wimps. Owning a boat is like anything else. The joy you get out of it is directly proportional to the care and pride you put in. I love my boat and it's 13 years old and develops problems here and there

I have the same issue now. I am pretty sure it's a pump and they are a bitch to get to.

Mine needs a new bait well pump too, but I don't mind doing repairs.
If you don't love using your boat, the maintenance will not be worth it to you.

quote:I'm not so sure about this. If you maintain it well, you will still have issues. The nature of a boat is for things to go wrong. Like a home, you will constantly be doing maintenance, fixing small things to keep it in good working order.
you will not have any issues
Generally, people like to complain. And the ones you hear are the ones that aren't out on the water enjoying their boat

main reason is people invest too much in a boat, which for 99% of the people out there is something that will rarely be used.
T-Bob gets a few extra dollars in his pocket and decides he wants a boat. He goes buy him a $20k boat and uses it a few times then parks it for a year or two. Now he has to pay to get it running again or let it rot in his yard.

Most people that have alot of problems with their boat dont use their boat enough. The worse thing for problems everytime you go out is to not have used it recently. I couldnt imagine not owning a boat.

Because plenty people have had one with a POS money pit motor that left them stranded somewhere.
Don't know too many people who haven't pulled their boat somewhere just to have it not start on the ramp in the morning.
Most people who have had a boat for a few years have some kind of electrical issue.
Boats can be a pain in the arse and most people have had one that was.

Boats are like pools, its better to know someone close by that has one vs having your own

I don't know. But I want one.
