Yep. He's gotten around a bit since being in the NBA, but he has a ton of high level experience.

This John Jones character can talk people into anything. Between his recruiting and hiring of a staff, that guy should be a peace negotiator.

Don't expect him to stay long, but if he can fix our defense and help us snag a Cali kid I'll be satisfied

I can't think of a better hire for LSU at this point. Pretty much hits all needs with 1 guy. Really excited. He has history on the west coast and recruiting the area, he has fast paced offensive experience. He's a winner. All of it.

He's here to focus the offense more than defense... just a heads up.

Cause he's never had tons of success.

Yep. I included the blurb about offensive production to show that, but he still has a lot of coaching experience to round out players.

Great sports family.
You've might have seen his wife on ESPN or the NFL network a few years ago.
On the left. he isn't married to Kendra from playboy.

Absolutely! He'll be the most experienced coach on the staff by a mile

Hopefully he can help "teach" the game. LSU has good "athletes". Can he help make them good basketball players? Defense probably doesn't require as much coaching as offense. To defend well as a team you need communication, positioning, and most importantly, the DESIRE to defend. A guy has to WANT to defend.

All in all, an unexpectedly good (on paper at least) hire!

It cracks me up that you put athletes in quotation marks.

A) I am thrilled with this hire. I would be thrilled with this hire if he became head coach. Great mind, friendly guy, super connected and can probably recruit well.

B) the only reason why this guy isn't an NBA lead assistant at the bare minimum is because of his rep for partying. No idea if it is still the case, but these days, coaches with that rep like Eustachy and Snyder don't get second chances immediately. Of course they then prove their quality almost immediately once they are given a chance.
