Do you guys where helmets? I believe it is the law in LA correct? Here in the great state of Fl. Not required. I ask because i dont ride and never would because at least every week here in JAx someone is killed riding one. Have had a few friends die riding them.I understand the need to feel free and stuff but what is your motoviation? If my kids said one day i'm getting a motorcycle id be like no the hell your not!

I ride. I wear full protective gear, because I like my skin. Drivers here suck, but I'm pretty good at minding my surroundings when I ride and keep myself in favorable positions in traffic for the most part.
I ride because it's awesome. Can't really describe it, you just have to feel it for yourself.

Off road only and wearing gear. Not getting on the highway on a bike with all the texting and facebooking that takes place on the road today. They didn't watch for bikes before they had all this technology and I've seen the results of bike vs car crashes up close.

My stepdad got too old for his "getting around town" bike and pretty much gave it to me. It is a Triumph Bonneville T100. He has owned Harleys his entire life, and this was his first non-Harley.
I wear glasses, helmet, jeans, and boots most of the time. Only time I go sans helmet is if I'm going right around the corner(literally within a mile @20mph limit). Any further and it gets put on.
Fun little bike to putt around on, but I definitely wouldn't drive it on a road trip

Been riding street since early 80's. Currently ride a 2008 Concours14. ATGATT.. even in august!
Riding a Motorcycle is like a virus... you either have it in you or you don't. It lays dormant in your system until you take your first spin. Then that MC Virus springs to life.
To those that have it... no explanation is needed... To those who don't... no explanation is sufficient..

I can understand your thoughts on us by having to deal with Florida riders/riding conditions.
I wear full gear all the time, but I don't putt around. For me it has nothing to do with "being free" or any of that other lifestyle crap some people spew. For me, it's a fun method of travel that gives you a different perspective on the world that I personally enjoy.

I hesitate to contribute to this thread because I don't really ride that much, but I do own a 2002 Harley V Rod that presently functions as a fancy garage ornament.
Always wear a helmet.
Always wear a helmet.

I'd love to own a bike, but drivers in BR (or any city) are just so horrible I wouldn't ride in the city. Most drivers don't even pay attention to other cars, let alone something smaller.

I ride with a helmet but have ridden briefly without in states where it is legal.
I am a proponent of helmet use but an adult should have the choice whether they want to or not. Not the government making the choice for us.
LA used to have no law until our current governor decided it was a bad thing. (Foster spearheaded the successful removal of the helmet law).
The cellphone is about the most dangerous invention for motorcyclists as cagers didn't pay attention before and are much worse now.

Been riding since I was 7. Grew up racing motocross.
Got a tw200 in college (first street-legal bike). Then an Aprilia Pegaso, and a Yamaha V-Star 650 that I still have.
My ride of choice now is my trusty drz400s. I love dualsport/adventure bikes.
And I won't ride without a helmet at minimum.

I want a bike but I drive fast enough as it is. I'm too immature for a bike.

I can't ride any more but I used to race motorcross and did track days on a sportbike. Before doing trackdays, I rode the sportbike on the street a bit. I would never ride without a helmet, boots, gloves, a leather riding jacket, and at least denim riding pants. I value my skin. Anyone who rides with less is a moron and deserves any injury they get. Once getting on a track though, I had no interest in street riding. Unless you're going too fast, it's no fun. The last time I rode on the street, a friend and I ran from the cops at 100+mph. When I reflected on it afterwards, I thought, " I'm a 40something year old dentist with a wife and 3 kids at home - WTF am I doing running from the cops at 100+ mph?" Stuck to the track after that.

I value my life, and being around for my family. So, no, I don't ride motorcycles.
