it's just an irrelevant statement when trying to get somebody to watch it.
Well thanks for derailing this thread. I didn't attempt to talk people into watching it in the OP. Just showing some staggering numbers to generate conversation, since it begins shortly.

well yeah it's the popular world sport and these people wait 4 years to see it happen.

You can like both the world cup and soccer and football at the same time. I don't get the either or attitude people have toward sports at some times.
I don't follow cricket or rugby that doesn't mean I don't like it.

Well the World Cup is weeks long while the Super Bowl is 4 hrs...
Did you even read the OP? Serious question. This is just a stupid statement to make.
THE WORLD CUP FINAL. NOTTTT the entire World Cup. The World Cup final in 2010 was 3 hours long. Compare that to the 4 hours of the Superbowl.
If we were to see a graphic of the number of people who watched any of the 64 games of the 2010 World Cup, you'd probably be looking at 1.5-2 billion people

Not surprising at all futball is the most popular sport on the planet. Sorry if most on here don't get that. It's truly a universal sport.
It's popular worldwide bc it doesnt cost shite to play. All you need is a round ball.

No I thought it was talking about the World Cup as a whole. I'm glad I made that mistake though so you could freak out and go on your funny little tirade

I saw something that said around 118 million in the US at least watch part of a game in 2010

One thing I don't like is people who watch the Super Bowl for the commercials and don't really follow football.
I'd gladly pay like 20 bucks for PPV to not have people each the superbowl just for the commercials.
People watch the world cup for the game NOT the commercials.

I was expecting the OP to be a pic of an "average Joe" American and a pic of a flaming queer.

How about baseball? In the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico people who are dirt poor only need a stick and a ball to play? Doesn't deteriorate their love for the sport. Look at Vladimir Guerrero.
