Is there any evidence that Bergdahl intended to remain away permanently?
It seems like an awfully big presumption some folks are making.
Did he change into civilian clothes? Did he buy a ticket to another country? What is the evidence he intended to remain away permanently?

What about the reported claim that he forgot English? Being unable to speak English makes it kind of difficult to imagine he intended to return to the U.S. Army. And what if he expressed the intent to desert in the note he left upon his departure from base? Does any self-serving claim that he changed his mind without evidence rebut his stated intent upon departure? What evidence does he have to prove he had a change of heart?
