Let's Talk War on Drugs

Was just looking for a documentary to watch on amazon prime and ran across "How to Make Money Selling Drugs." Not bad. I've seen better documentaries, but it presents an interesting perspective that is not necessarily new but seems to be gaining steam with legalization of marijuana on different levels in states across the country. What is the OT's thoughts on the War on Drugs?
-Epic failure.
-Protects America's youth.
-Misguided and should be treating the addiction rather than the crime.
-Support because it creates a lot of jobs.
-21st century slavery.
-Necessary because drug dealers are typically violent criminals as well.
-A huge waste of money.
-Why is the government involved in what happens in the privacy of my home?
-Great because Reagan supported it and he was rarely wrong.
-Terrible because Nixon supported it.
I could go on for a while with ways folks might describe it so this is not an all encompassing list but it's a start. Thoughts?

Why is marijuana considered a schedule 1 drug? Because many of our elected officials have been bribed with campaign donations. Who would bribe our elected officials for this purpose? Many corporations have an interest in keeping marijuana illegal for various reasons. The private prison industry wants to incarcerate more people for profit. The pharmaceutical industry wants people to buy their drugs instead of a natural substance that can be grown anywhere. The timber, cotton and energy industries want to prevent hemp from replacing their products. The main cause of the war on drugs is BRIBERY, also known as campaign donations and lobbying.

I was against it, then I visited Detroit for the first time since I was a child. Ask anyone living on the south side of the eight mile road what destroyed their city. They will tell you narcotics.
The sellers of these drugs should be tried for murder for peddling a product that enslaves people, turns them into scarecrows, and ultimately kills them.

All of these.

This is what a liberal and conservative would exactly think like.
Also....

Look at this graph and tell me if you can still support the WOD...

Epic failure. Anytime our government declares war on a social issue it gets worse. The more money we have poured down the rat hole over the last 40 years the worse things have gotten.

I take part in the WoD every day. Every time I encounter illicit substances, I 'get rid' of them so that no other poor soul may suffer.

The guy I interned with in DC (Eric Sterling) was featured prominently in that doc.
The war on drugs is a war on the American people.

I wrote a paper on this.
Basically, for certain drugs regulation should be used but overall, no one should tell a human what to do with their body.

I'm not against letting the dopers puff on the devil's lettuce as long as they don't try to force companies to do away with piss testing.
I am against thethought of having black tar heroin sold behind the counter at a circle k. Not all drugs are created equal. Some things need to be illegal.
