Alright I noticed 3 big trends this year.
1. FPS's are going more vertical with their gameplay
2. Co-op is in everything
3. Lighter colors and brighter environments are the new trends. Photorealism is becoming more rare.

Game engines have evolved since consoles have more VRAM.
Look into some of the game engines and you will see why the box has become larger. They always wanted to extend the envoriment but was locked down by consoles.

That's what I am interested in when I say 'next gen'. I want to see what gameplay mechanics get introduced without as many limitations. I don't care if they make it in 900p, 1080p, or 720p. I just want to see what they can introduce.

Yes, they are literally chained to the console. No developer could ever make games solely or the PC

Where's the poll from? Only big places that do polls of the day are GameFAQs and IGN, iirc.

Anyone followed what Ready at Dawn is doing with The Order 1866? They said they are running at 30 fps to get a more cinematic feel, which I think is partial if not complete bullshite, but still interesting. They are also putting the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen like you get when you watch movies on your tv. I know a big part of their talk has been seamless transition between cut scenes and gameplay. It will be interesting to see how this comes out.

The game looks like 99% cutscenes, like AC3.

That was only 1 of AC3's many problems.

What make Valve and Irrational such great devs is the fact that their games have little to no cutscenes. The story is told through great gameplay. They might start and stop the game on cutscenes but the story isn't told through them.
Cutscenes for the most part are lazy or a cheap way out of game development for the main story.

I guess, I couldn't stick with the game to finish.
The cutscenes killed it for me.

There was a time when cut scenes were awesome and people really loved them, but those days have passed. Some devs still use them very well like naughty dog but some abuse them.

I was so underwhelmed by this game. Just a on rails shooter with a bunch of cut scenes. I was really excited when the initial info was leaking out, but it was just such a let down.

Yeah I enjoy some, Rocksteady had some cool ones in the first 2 Batmans for example.

It looks like it will either do really well or really bad to me. They are trying some different things which is cool, I just hope it works.

Yeah it will probably come down to story. I will definitely take a wait and see on it.
Is it a 2015 release?
Sony definitely has the story driven, brown & dark blue dreary looking games figured out.
