Yep, being a teacher is a highly respected gig in those Scandinavian countries. If I ever had a chance I would move there in a heartbeat.

Are they seriously trying to bitch about student-teacher personal interaction while saying we need to cut back the amount of teachers we accept into teaching programs? We already have a shortage of teachers (not even good ones) with a much larger population. That comparison is fricking stupid.

It's only getting worse too. There's no pride in teaching in America anymore. Why is a college grad going to take a 35k a year job when he/she can take a sales job or learn a trade making double that.
You think it's bad now wait 20 years from now. Especially, down south and in urban areas.
