No one is really going to say or do anything until more information comes out. Jindal issued a half-assed statement today saying he was glad the traitor was released, but upset at the release of 5 high ranking terrorists.

If the numerous allegations of Bergdahl's former peers are true, then I seriously doubt Rand Paul will do anything but condemn him.

The smart ones on every part of the spectrum will stay quiet until an investigation and possible court-martial are complete.

Libertarians value the sanctity of contracts above almost all else; Bergdahl willingly and freely entered into a contract with the American military, and he allegedly failed to live up to his side of the bargain because of his moral weakness. That he got about a dozen others killed because of his decision will ensure that no serious political thinker will be backing his actions come election time.

Ron Paul voted in favor of the war in Afghanistan, and his son campaigned as being in favor of it as part of his platform.

So who is lying, Rolling Stone or NBC? Their stories conflict with each other.

He said a few things about understanding the war, the afghan people, and why they were over there(the father). He mentioned how the people of Afghan are just as patriotic as us, want to be free, and not treated as subhuman.

The son also made comments to the effect basically expressing his frustration with the mission, and the purpose of being over there.

And it's true. A 10+ year war takes on an ugly life of its own after awhile. Soldiers forget what the cause is...are we freeing people, trying to overthrow a dictator, defending neighboring countries from a great danger etc. most are joining for the money, some excitement, and the few who are still their for noble reasons, and are still thinking and not just blindly following orders, go through this dilemma. It's easy to find yourself in an atmosphere of Meatheads versus Nerds, the military often purports that kind of atmosphere (see 'A Few Good Men')

Anyway, like I said, I have a feeling this story will flip in a few days, and the Paul's will get out in front of it. Why them? I've been keeping up with them a lot lately. I can't link it all, but they should be itching to speak on this.

So if you hold a POV and someone expresses a similar view on some of your POV that means you are aligned with them and approve of them regardless of any whackiness they engage in which would be unrelated to your POV or would be something you repudiate?

I suspect that Eric Holder and the Top Obama Brass are dusting up their investigatory package right now. The folk in Bergdahls unit are going on a loonnngg vacation. With orders to keep their mouths shut.
