You can have your political opinions and that's fine, but there was a time in this country when people, especially at a place like West Point, would give proper respect for the office. It's the correct and patriotic thing to do. But in today's society people are more concerned with their "side" or their views than they are their country and this thread is a prime example. It's embarrassing.

I agree. The office deserves respect.

But there's a little part of my brain....

"Payback is a bitch" considering what the left did with the last president.

two way street. you think they should applaud when he knew of the VA issue and says he's giving 5 billion dollars to terrorists in his speech? To those graduating from WP?

Really? Applaud that? Is that so Obama can then stand up and say "Look, even the military agrees with me!"

quote:

“The president just promised $5 billion for terrorists around the world?! At West Point?!” Williams said angrily. “Where he could have used the day to say, ‘I’m sorry for the pain that I’ve caused you, the families, and I’m gonna fix it today!’”

quote:
“I’m angry because, you know, we made a promise. When I stood with my hand up proudly, I said, ‘I do solemnly swear and affirm to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic and I will bear true faith.’ I went through my oath,” Williams said.

“I told the world I’m willing to put my life on the line and die for you,” he continued. “Now, our guys went over. They left body parts. Some of them never made it back. Some of them are here now and their souls are still there. And we have the audacity to turn our back on them right this second?”

I'll agree w/ you in regards to the West Point individuals. Obama is their CiC whether they like it or not. They signed up for the military and all that it entails. They should show him their respect.

As for everyone else in our society, personally, I try to show everyone respect up until the point I deem they don't deserve it anymore. I don't care for those elected to governmental positions as individuals and those feelings of distrust and general dislike extends to their positions as well.

This POS has earned no respect - hell, you don't even respect him. You are only concerned that he is fulfilling the progressive dream.

IF he had made an address that was respective of the office himself, then he, representing that office, would have received all due respect.

But no - that bastard could only use the graduation address at West Point to push his f'ing agenda. Nothing about what he said deserved respect.

He shite the bed.

again.

The real embarrassment is that this man was elected the first time and then, in spite of obvious shortcomings, was elected again.

So Obama has changed how people look at the President and now you get mad when others as you say disrespect it? No one has disrespected that office more than Obama...

So in other words, if the President shoved his cock in your mouth, you response would be: Thank you Sir, please give me more....

Remember, it's all about respect...

Yeah! Aaron Burr who killed a sitting Vice President in a duel in 1804 says hello. As well as Preston Brooks who nearly killed Charles Sumner on the Senate floor in the 1850's over the slavery issue also says hello.
There has always been political discourse and will always be. Look at some of the newspaper articles of Jefferson's run for the presidency as the 3rd president of the US.
God bless political discourse and the separation of powers!
