This
might get some FAB at LM

The less Brad Davis on the field the better

Bedoya, Green, Zusi are gonna be there, I don't think Jurgen is dumb enough to play Davis for more than the last 10 minutes for set pieces. We need Fabian at LB and Zusi will probably be LM

Now the reports of Johnson playing RB are even more confusing.
If Johnson and Chandler are the fullbacks, I can't figure it out. Zusi is a right midfielder though not a wing, but I can't see him playing LW all of a sudden. I suppose Bedoya could play, but he is not starter material. Green would be a fricking joke. And I can't see Bacon at LW either, even though I love his game. He is a forward.

I assume this pretty much solidifies Fab at LM which puts Beasley at LB. The decision to leave off Donovan has so many more implications than just no Landon which makes this even worse.
Maybe I'm wrong though and Chandler can play LB but then that puts Gonzo in the middle. I don't even want to think about Landon not being on the team though. Maybe Jurgen has a change of heart before June 2nd.

If Gonzo starts at CB I'm straight up flying to Brazil to bitch slap Jurgen.

i think the bacon plays LW, overlapping with fab. we can't have fab and dempsey on the wing, either, b/c of defense
RB: chandler
CB: besler
CB: cameron(?)
LB: fab
DM: jones
CM: bradley
CAM: dempsey
LW: bacon
RM: zusi
ST: jozy

That's the best you can possibly do with the team. It's a weird line-up, but that's really the best you can do.
Looking at the line-ups, I don't see how Donovan wouldn't have started in my XI for the WC, with Bacon coming off the bench as a spark plug for any of Zusi, Donovan, Dempsey, or Jozy.

the scary part is that jones won't play that CM/CB role you need for the wingbacks to really make the 4-2-3-1 work. that either means he's going to be leaving us with huge holes OR bradley has to stay back and do that (yack)
we may throw out a shite show of omar/besler and cameron playing RB (i guess chandler playing LB with fab LM) to iron out the defensive worries. that would be fricking scary

I don't even think the issue is who starts but who's gonna come off the bench. If we started a guy like Bacon, Zusi, or Bedoya out wide then that's fine but what happens when Jozy and the wingers need to be subbed off? I am cringing at the though of Brad Davis against the outside mids in our group.

bacon can play the wings
dempsey, theoretically, can play the wings

Jones' tactical naïveté pretty much makes me want to start Kyle Beckerman against Ghana's midfielders. He's not going to create massive space between the lines that will open us up on the counter, and he's going to foul Essien, Assamoah and co. on the break.

I wouldn't mind that at all. Only for Ghana though.
I think Beckerman has zero ego and he won't mind staying far back and being an offensive non-factor for the US. Jones, not so much.

Not sure why people think Bedoya isn't starter material.

This. He can even play wing back. He'll play whatever position is asked of him.
Also, I think we go with a 4-4-2.
