But they aren't mutually exclusive so how is this possible?

Good point; bourbon is a type of whiskey, I misspoke.

A really good one is what it is no matter where youre drinking it. It's a free country, but there's still a right and wrong way - established across generations and millions of humans enjoying a primal and essential experience of tasting.

Of course people can do what they want, but if I open a good bottle of single malt, and see someone put ice in their glass, they have just revealed something about themselves. Jus sayin.

Or are you one of those guys who thinks its totally fine to drown your dry-aged prime rare porterhouse in A1 and Heinz 57? I mean, I can do what I want right?

Don't worry, you'll reach an age where you come to realize that different people have different tastes and what their tastes are says nothing about how refined (or unrefined) they are.

And for the record, I usually take my bourbon with coke, my single malt neat, and my steak medium rare... and if cooked correctly it won't require Worcestershire sauce.

I'd refuse to drink this shite just out of the principle they've put it in a bottle that looks more suited for cheap perfume.

(You're looking at a $6,200,000.00 bottle of hooch btw)

haha im older than you, dickbag

I relish the irony that your response is so much more arrogant than anything I've said in this thread.

Tastes and preferences are fantastic. I glory in the human choice. It is the wonder of being alive.

There are times when choices are made out of ignorance rather than a true preference. If you receive the honor of tasting a '64 Black Bowmore, you are a singularly lucky individual. To put ice in that glass is to take a shite on all that is known to be right and true about whiskey. It is to disrespect and scoff at the lifes work of generations of experts and distillers and whiskey lovers. It can only be done out of ignorance, not a "preference".

So yeah, I can make some sound conclusions about a person that does that. They are either highly ignorant or highly assholish.

The same for a diner at Peter Lugers who asks for ketchup. They just dont know better.

all much better choices than the ones you make posting here

Then you should already have put aside the notion that just because someone likes the way something tastes it does not means that person is beneath you.

You're the one judging people over their tastes, not me.

This is the most arrogant statement in the thread.

So when someone wants an ice cube in their single malt, their an a-hole. But the guy turning his nose up at them for doing it is not an a-hole?

Or they know they like ketchup on their steak.

You did say one thing there I agree with 100%...

Tastes and preferences are fantastic. I glory in the human choice. It is the wonder of being alive.

... And like I said, you can't judge a person good or bad based on their taste in drink or food.

Bourbon is a whiskey. Don't let him confuse you. Scotch whiskey, bourbon whiskey, Irish whiskey, rye whiskey, etc... All called a whiskey.

ETA: right now my cabinet has Maker's 46, Woodford Reserve, and Basil Hayden. All my current favorites.

They come into most stores in the fall. Start talking to your local store and ask them to tell you when they expect a shipment.

I got a bottle of rip van Winkle 10yr doing the same thing. Paid $35.

I've heard good things about this bourbon as well but I've not tried it yet...

i don't think it's going to be considered "top shelf" but rather a more everyday type bourbon.
