Been called this a couple of months ago. And I just got in so haven't read through the 7 pages so apologies...but why are people so upset with Hickey...seriously? He had moments like Kentucky, times at Memphis, where he could show you what he could do. But how many times late in the game did he just stall to take a contested nba 3? I seriously don't understand why y'all are so upset. He would have been a good spark, but the combo of TQ and Gray is way better than Hickey and either. People are giving up on Quarterman entirely too soon. We need defense desperately, and Josh Gray isn't bringing it, but TQ has it. The guy is a freshman with elite passing skills and court vision, length for days, and intensity. He sucks horribly at shooting, but he can learn to be a 30% 3-point shooter which is fine. Y'all had to know we weren't going to keep 4 PG's on the team. So Patterson wasn't qualifying or Hickey or TQ were leaving.

I'm more upset about the loss of Hammink and Morgan simply for depth purposes...very shallow at 3, now.

We will be shallow at 3, but I think our rotation of TQ and Gray at 1 with Patterson spelling ppl for foul trouble, and Hornsby and Gray at the 2 gives us very good size, very athleticism, and great balance of offense/defense.

Heard a rumor that Hickey was filing transfer papers to western kentucky but that is just a rumor. And it sounds like he's been hanging out with the honeybadger too much. Can't believe he's had failed a drug test.

The first 2 pages were shock posts. Later on, this thread has started to have a similar feel as you. Still think we are okay at 3 with Martin and Bridgewater. This definitely means that Martin stays outside though.

LSU will be better in the 2014-2015 season than last year.

Not really.

We didn't use our bench last year because they weren't ready yet.

They looked amazingly ready when they were used as unit early last year. Then suddenly we were playing 6 guys. After Morgan got hurt we used other players who eventually stepped up. Even Hammink looked good in games late last year.

I am surprised that Odo and Malone aren't leaving as well.

This makes me quite sad. Hammink and Morgan were considered candidates for attrition, but I didn't expect 3 guys to leave the program.

It was 1 game that he made 2 layups settle down.

Odo couldn't leave because he has 1 yr left and transfer rules would leave him 0. Malone knew he had a lot to work on and Im hoping he has been working on them. I think he is also very happy with where he is from a personal standpoint. He is very close to Hornsby and has a good group of friends here.

Losing Hickey is a bigger loss than some of these tards are saying. Quarterman looked lost, confused and overmatched every time he ran the point. I didn't care for Hickey's half court 3 pointers that happened 4-5 times a game but he brought more to the team than any replacement we have.

So from last years team, we're left with some white bench guys and Martin. I'm not sure who is coming in during the fall but the chances the talent level is Kentucky level is very low. I'm prepared to see a bunch of Ls this year.

I'll agree that I see some potential in TQ, but he was not an SEC caliber player last year. In fact, he was a liability more than a contributor. Go back and look up your graphs and charts. He will need to improve drastically just to be a reliable backup.

I'm thinking this year is going to be a 9-9 type team with a nice starting 5, and little to no depth. They could have a shot to make a late run and be a bubble team. Let's see here:

Starters: (i think this will be an exciting starting 5)
Gray
Hornsby
Martin
Mickey
Robertson - huge ?

Bench:
TQ - the only backup G is a huge ?
Bridgewater - huge ?
Epps - huge ?
Malone - huge ?
Odo - huge ?

=Another NIT for Johnny

I guess Quannas White finally convinced Morgan to transfer out. I wonder if he's going to try and leverage him for a job again like he tried to last year?

I will add in that TQ55, Gray, and Hornsby can all play point guard and shooting guard. Versatile set of guards.

The one thing that could be bad next season is when the guards get in foul trouble. Praying Patterson qualifies for purely depth purposes.

I wouldn't be surprised if LSU picked up a transfer before the deadline on May 21st.
