True but under your scenario it would be a battle of bullpens in the last game and ULL's bullpen is horrible. of course their hitting is far superior

Yeah, it could be a tossup game. I would just trust that if they could get us in the first game, they could ride momentum in the second game.

I don't see this team making it out of a regional, no matter where we go.

B. Especially if we host, but I'm not sure they get any farther.

CPM has taken almost all the water he can out of this towel.

People knock the man but I applaud him. We do not have the hitting this season to win a national title. Period. However, we have the defense.

The problem is, eventually, you need to score more runs. We will end up hitting a wall at some point, hopefully after we get to Omaha at least.

Regardless, we were not supposed to be in this position before the season started, CPM has found a way to make things work to the best he can.

For example, where would we be if Andrew Stevenson hit .190 like he did last season?

Where would we be if Bregman hit .369 like last season? Or Foster at .359? Or McMullen at .314? Or Laird at .307? Or Ibarra at .305?

I agree, but Andrew's batting average is only offset by Bregman's lack of hitting. By lack I mean compared to his average last year. (.280/.369) Had Bregs hit last years average, and Andrew hitting like he has this season we would have likely won at least 4 or 5 games that we didn't. Bregs left a lot of base runners stranded this season.

Baseball is a finicky sport and I am on the record as a Mainieri supporter, but this program does not feel like it is headed in a good direction...anyone else have that feeling? We lose our best player/pitcher and otherwise don't have a lot to look forward to next season either.

I agree. kind of a depressing outlook for Mainieri and the staff. Paul has a lifetime contract in essence. He ain't going no where.

HCB what you think about them given your boy a chance to start. His numbers look pretty good.

Guys I'm sorry ULL is significantly better than us. Only hope is Nola win (which he will) and hope their pitching staff is still hurt.
With that said I say regional and done

In a nutshell: "LSU has got to score. You can't win without scoring." - Jim Hawthorne 12/18/10

If the Tigers can score runs the sky's the limit. Otherwise, it's gonna be a long drive home over that fn bridge.

We might see a reversal of 2002.

LSU gets sent to Lafayette for the regional. LSU shuts out ULL on Saturday with Nola on the mound. LSU runs out of pitching on Sunday and Monday, and ULL throws a couple of bats into the dugout and beats LSU twice.
