I'm happy for Ego, really am. I dont understand the disparity between these two however.. They had similar production at LSU, how is one a 2nd rounder and one undrafted?

2013 Stats: Sacks, TFL, Total Tackles, QBH, PBU

Ego - 1.0, 3.5, 58, 3, 3

AJ - 3.0, 9.0, 35, 1, 3

Both guys are 6'3 and within 10 lbs of each other. Both graded out at a 5.5 at the NFL combine. Although neither's stats are incredible, Freak had triple the amount of sacks and triple tackles for loss. Ego is slightly larger and slightly stronger (24 bench reps vs 20 for freak. Freak is quicker. Does the total tackles stat tell a bigger story? (58 ego, 35 aj... does this show Ego can shed blocks and still get in on tackles?)...

Head Scratcher IMO ....

You only just learned there were compensatory picks.

gonna ignore the 23 more Ego tackles?

gonna ignore the failed drug test by AJ?

Im happy for Ego and I hope AJ has a chance at making a roster but there's more involved in picks than college stats.

Heard through the grapevine that Freak has been having some serious personal issues

Not surprised that Ego got drafted. Got drafted higher than most people probably anticipated.

Very surprised Freak didn't at least get drafted. Even with the failed drug test.

In hind sight, too bad he didn't stay here another year. Would have been a nice anchor up front.

Ego hustled. Ego did not dissappear for entire games. Ego played well against top compitition. Ego was double teamed more than jojnosn.

I BELIEVE THAT INTERVIEWS MIGHT BE HALF YOUR DRAFT STOCK !

FWIW, the Bears seriously reached on Ego in the 2nd round. It was a major position need for them but Ego was drafted much higher than he graded.

Not surprised AJ didn't get drafted.

If one RB averaged 75ypg, and another averaged 124ypg, I wouldn't call that similar. The difference is 66%, which is how many more tackles Ego had.

I, for one, am with you Mick. But the answer to your question is not here on this board. It's in the war rooms of all of the NFL teams.

Personally, I thought Ego would be a late 3rd to 4th round pick, and that Freak would slip to late 5th to 6th round.

Bottom line is they both have an opportunity to play in the NFL, something that 99.9% of us on this board could never say about ourselves.

Best of luck to both of them, and ALL of our former Tigers.

Ego was consistently the better DT IMO throughout their college careers...

Freak was awful last year and his effort was shite.

Ego played his arse off and would have had a better year if he would have had someone else beside him.

Just the facts. Freak won't make a roster.
