Golf irons, hybrids vs old school?

What is the advantage of hybrid irons over the regular standard irons? I am curious if the hybrids will really make that much of a difference in my game. Saw a set of Adams Idea Tech V4 hybrids on sale for $299. Wanted to get some input before spending the money.
TIA

Higher and land softer. Great for average clubhead speeds through 5 iron. Good for 2 and 3's for good above average swingers.

Night and day difference to me, but I am not a great golfer.
I can hit the 3 and 4 Hybrid a lot easier than I could my irons. Less chance of a bad hit.
I have a set of Adams Irons but I cant for the life of me remember what they are

Sounds like I need to jump on this deal, while it's still available.
Thanks y'all, I appreciate it.

If you want to improve your game don't get them. If you want to take a few shots off of your score, go ahead and get the band aid.

That's been the way I've felt for years. When all the adjustable drivers came out, I looked at is as cheating the game.
I still feel that way, but I don't get to play nearly often enough to improve my game. Just looking to see if I want to cross the line.

Just in time for me to take pride in getting a 2-iron in the air hybrids became prominent. Then I get told I shouldn't hit 2-iron. But it is my trouble club. Can punch out of a lot of trees with my 2-iron. Tough to "punch" a hybrid.
I never really taught myself to hit hybrids. I snap a lot of my shots with mine.

Got a buddy that has all hybrids except his wedges, which he has two. Hits em good, but he practices about everyday, has a driving range in his back yard. I have one and rarely use it.

LOL tons of good golfers use hybrids. Use whatever makes the game fun for you.
I personally don't do the mixed sets and have just added a couple hybrids to the bag, but no reason not to try them.

Me too. I've never found a hybrid that plays flat enough for me.

I kept my irons up to #5. Seems like I get a lot more control with my irons #5 and down.
I use hybirds to replace 4 & 3 irons.

Same here...I have a 2-iron and love it. I usually hit it off the tee when I need an accurate drive and I use it to get out of trouble. When it's windy, which is common in Texas, I hit it quite a bit to keep the ball low and under the wind.

No
Sounds like you're just doing it wrong

How old are your irons?
Very few companies even make 2 irons anymore

I had an older Titleist 762 2 iron, but switched to Titleist 712 CB 2 iron a while back.
I want to try the 712U 18 degree.

I mean I love them but they kind of ruined my game. For some reason I can hit a hybrid good 8/10 times but my mid irons have gone to shite. I can't make solid contact with irons at all anymore so if I'm in between range of my wedge and 5 hybrid I'm screwed.

Ben Martin was using that with a steel shaft everywhere at TPC La when he shot his course record 62.
