A few years ago an article was in a local paper regarding the changing of the Georgia state flag to eliminate the battle flag portion. Said article was roughly 10 paragraphs. Opponents of the old flag / battle flag were given 3 paragraphs to explain their opposition. Proponents of the battle flag were given 2 SENTENCES. The paper could then say it had presented both sides, when in actuality around 1/3 of the article was used to explain a particular view.
Wow.
How profound.
You caught them.
How long did you interview each side, btw?

I will give you another example. CBS news on the radio shares a story about a Supreme Court ruling.
If the ruling is favorable to what would traditionally be a liberal cause, a spokesperson from a liberal advocacy group if normally given time on the air to explain why it is a good ruling.
If the ruling is not favorable to a liberal cause, that same spokesperson would then be given a chance to explain why it is a bad thing.
I am in the vehicle alot and have listened to CBS alot. They have been doing the above for years.

the problem is that you're attempting to prescribe political motives to a fact gathering organization, whose first priority is not to factor in the "left vs right" paradigm. This has slowly been shifting towards more "point of view" based journalism, which seems to be what you want.
As I originally said, I don't think there is no bias, i just don't think it's nearly as bad as people on here claim outside of a handful of outlets.

quote:from a point left of center, you perceive the bias as "not so bad", whereas individuals both in the center and to the right of center state the bias is significant. Perception is an interesting thing. In fact the present-day bias is often nothing short of completely pathetic
