What about Bradon Harris getting shipped off to Cali. for QB camp / passing instructions? Does this mean Cam sucks and Harris doesn't trust him?

We were down to .238 hitting as a team. Since the Ole Miss series we've been batting .292. Why have we improved so much?

2009: .315 BA (2nd SEC), .516 slugging (3rd SEC), .405 OBP (2nd SEC), Lead the SEC in Runs, RBI, hits, doubles, triples and 3rd in HRs
2010: .319 BA (2nd SEC), .499 slugging (2nd SEC), .406 OBP (3rd SEC), 497 Runs (3rd SEC), 3rd in the SEC in walks, Lead the league in triples
2011: .303 BA (3rd in the SEC); 4th in the SEC in every other major category; 2nd fewest strikeouts in the SEC (but near the bottom in plate appearance)
2012: 4th in the SEC in BA and OBP; 1st in runs and RBI; 3rd in total bases
2013: Really, really good.

Sure, it isn't pristine. But nothing to sneeze at.

To be fair, the article does say "and Sanchez" as far as who has been helping him.

I think Javi's contribution has been limited to : "Yeah...what he said.".

We've consistently been one of the best 3-5 best hitting teams in the SEC since 2008.

We are also consistently in the top 3-5 in the SEC in grounding into double plays. I wish there was an archive of SEC (or even NCAA) stats with AVG RISP, because comparing that with LSU's overall BA, and comparing to the difference with other teams, would be very telling.

And nothing talks more about plate discipline and coaching than how a batter behaves with runners on the bases. That is where talent meets situational and behavioral coaching.

Well he's done a hell of a job developing Chinea into a catchers inference liability every pitch.

That's awesome.

Or you could just look at the overall offensive production and amount of games we've won in the last 5 years and try to accept that maybe Javi ISN'T the spawn of Satan.

Most objective observers of LSU baseball would agree that our hitters underachieve when you take into account the level of talent we can recruit here. It is telling that CPM often publicly praises the results Dunn gets from the pitchers. Not so with Sanchez and the hitters. My question is this:

What is the personal relationship that CPM has with Sanchez that seems to make him reluctant to replace him with a better hitting coach.

Ole Miss doesn't get studs? Miss. State? Arkansas? South Carolina? Florida?

I didn't realize that pointing out bad performance with runners on bases is an (or THE) indication hitting coach performance = me calling Javi the spawn of Satan. I'll try to be more careful.

You know what I'm saying. It was hyperbole. Just look at the stats I posted. I don't know what else to say.

Seriously you are so deluded and defensive I assume that you must be related to Sanchez. I don't even consider your responses as objective and worthy of serious consideration.

You don't consider statistics and facts to be objective?

Well let's try to be rational for a second and discuss what a hitting coach does. Do we really think he teaches top talent how to hit from scratch? No, of course not. He may/may not correct problems in swings, stances, ect. But he is not rebuilding Rome with these guys; he doesn't have to.

So if the talent, for the most part, is already there, what is he there for? Where can he make the most impact? He is there to teach situational awareness and approach and to apply the proper motivation for those situations. What are the majority of these "situations?" Times where base runners come into play.

Where/when has LSU consistently underachieved over Javi's stewardship? With runners on the bases.

Team BA: .305
BA w/ RISP: .316

Where did you find that? Wish I could find it for all SEC teams.
