Is there a time limit on how long to take the PE test after the EIT? I took the EIT years ago and may want to take the PE now.
nope...as long as you meet the education and experience requirements, you can apply to take the exam...
if you are going to take the exam, you probably should go ahead and do so, as there is some low-level talk in a lot of states of requiring a masters degree in the future...

I passed and never sent in my transcript. I need to do that to officially be an EIT. Although I'll never take the PE

Most non-civils that I know don't need it. I'm a civil, and I need the ability to stamp construction plans. But I know guys in other disciplines that will probably never have to do that.

PE in petroleum, as is Mrs. Oilfieldtiger. We haven't met any other PE married couples, but i'm sure there's some out there. Our kids will probably end up as engineers as well.
We're boring, but gainfully employed.

I'd say so...

My wife has a degree in construction management (started in arch but ditched it after year 3). Our 4yr old son already thinks like an engineer. Some of the shite he builds just is ridiculously advanced.

Starting LSU this summer to start working on becoming a CE with a focus on structural. This after graduating from college 10 years ago

My business card and title says Engineer. Does that count?

History Major
Same.
ETA: I kind of regret not doing Engineering. If someone put it in simple terms to me when I was in high school, i think i would have done engineering. Do you want to build and create shite? Then major in Engineering. Maybe I was just too obsessed with the Human condition as a 17-18 year old.

Question on getting the PE. Do you have to have your work experience after you pass the FE? Or can you work for 10 years, take the FE and pass, then take the next available PE exam?
I've got the FE passed but never sent in my transcripts to make it official. Now I have 4 years under my belt. Can I send in my transcripts, get the cert, then turn around and take the test? I'd fail miserably, but it would be nice to know I had the option.

Congrats. I've been an EI for almost a year now (Louisiana is stupid and calls us Engineering Interns instead of Engineer in Training). I assume you're a civil major?

Great another engineering circle jerk

I was a production engineer, then R&D engineer, stuck in a stinky plant for 13 years. When I took a tech sales job, my career took off like no tomorrow. Many of my buddies are still there making not much more than they were, but you have to take some risks in life.

Good luck. I'll be taking my PE in roughly a year.
