Passed the FE in February and going for my PE next spring
ETA: Unless they've changed the requirements in the last year

EE here. LNG is my field currently.

if the EE curriculum was approved, how the hell does the computer option disqualify it?
In EE at the time, you could focus on one of a few different fields: semiconductors, power distribution, etc. They added the computer option while I was still in school and I saw that as the wave of the future (probably the only prophetic thing I've ever done) so I jumped on it. In that option, I took a lot of Comp. Sci. classes and didn't have to take Thermo, Strength of Materials and stuff like that. So my guess is that without those engineering classes they felt like that curriculum wasn't hardcore engineering enough and didn't give accreditation when LSU asked for it. But that only happened after I had graduated. Still I wouldn't have changed anything. As an EE, I never really needed a PE stamp. However it probably would come in handy for me now since I work in the traffic control industry which is primarily civil.

That sounds like a Comp Sci degree and not a Comp Eng. degree program.
Like you said, a program like you described would not be ABET accredited which is required to take the FE/PE exams.

There was still a lot of Eng. classes like Statics & Dynamics. But what it really amounted to was an EE degree with CS and Math minors. It ended up being way more useful to me than a PE so I'd do it the same all over again.

Congrats.
I hope you don't evolve into an "engineer". I fricking hate them.
