We're building a new Admin building inside the OSP right now where these scum bags are awaiting death. They shut us down every day when they have executions, (which I respect) but these guys have been causing us to plan shut downs only to get put off... Odd to see something in the news that's impacting our work.

The chief said one of the guys shot a little girl multiple times, then buried her alive as she was dying... Been on death row for 21 yrs. What's the hold up! Don't like the drugs? How about the chair? They still have them and they say they're still operational.

but not allowing the condemned to know the mix of drugs that will kill them is total bullshite, IMV.

The op indicated that they did not know the source of the drugs, not that they didn't know the actual drugs. It's a truly trivial point as they grasp at straws.

The punishers are supposed to be better than the punished, and there's really no need for secrecy on the method unless there's some degree of embarrassment involved. Knowledge of the cocktail mix doesn't serve the condemned for very long, obviously, but it serves us in whose name it's being administered. I want to know how I'm killing somebody. I want that somebody to know how I'm killing him.

If we used a rope or a bullet then they would certainly know what was killing them, and the government could save money. Hell, the government already has all the bullets they would need.

They are better. They are killing the sorry scum bags.

There's no need for full disclosure. Contrary to your opinion, you do not have the right to know everything.

They do know. A damned MSDS sheet isn't going to bring them any comfort.

Yes, even still. Humanity isn't a trait to be given or taken away.

If you're arguing that opposable thumbs and an ability to speak defines humanity, then that's your prerogative.

But I stand by my original assessment. This guy isn't human. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

I'm not, don't worry.

What makes someone human, to you?

Oh, you know...basic things. Like NOT raping and murdering 11 month old babies. It doesn't take much.

I don't get what the big deal is. I'd do them all on the same day of the year. That way they have no delusions of grandeur about how significant the day is. They are just a number. And it's more efficient.

Two executions on the same day is very surreal to see. Only 3 or 4 states have done it.

Yay I'm so excited. What channel is it on? I'm going to watch it with my son.

If Obama had a son would he look like one of these?

Where's Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

Perhaps government should be transparent about this like it has been in the past.

There were plenty of hangings in the town square in days gone by. I don't have a problem with people knowing exactly what their government is doing.

Uhhh... doesn't the OP tells us exactly what they are going to do? Did I missed something? Two executions, right? I think that means death. Am I wrong?

They botched it.

OK botched execution

quote:

Clayton Derrell Lockett, who was sentenced to die for shooting a woman in 1999, was rendered unconscious shortly after execution drugs were administered at about 6:23 p.m. local time, according to Jerry Massie, a spokesman for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

But Mr. Lockett later awoke, raised his head and shoulders, and began to mumble in apparent distress, Mr. Massie said. The inmate died at 7:06 p.m. of a massive heart attack, more than 40 minutes after the drugs were first administered.

Because of this, the other guy got his execution stayed.

Bullets are cheaper, as is a 6 foot length of rope.
