Most are at least rotation players and starters in the league, but finding anything close to an All-Star past the top 3 is rare.

I think that's still the biggest argument against tanking.

I think that something needs to be done for the middle guys though. Especially in a capped league, the middle 25-50% of teams get stuck in a cycle of mediocrity.

I'm not really anti-tanking as everyone else because teams find ways to still frick it up and often times the team with the worst record doesn't even end up with the best pick.

I think the lottery should be solely based on records, not if you made the playoffs or not. The current system has helped lead to the disparity between the conferences. There are a bunch of teams at the back end of the Eastern conference that need lotteries picks to get better.

You can still find extremely good players in the late lottery and end of the first. A lot of that eventually comes down to how you develop these players and what type of system they are in.

Smart move by these 2 young men. First off, Ill never bash a kid or say a kid made the wrong decision by returning to school.

And, I really dont know how the Harrison twins will do in the NBA. They arent that great of athletes, compared to NBA guards. They dont blow by people and arent the fastest / quickest guys out there, and arent that explosive. And they arent that good of shooters. Yea Aaron Harrison made some big shots in the tourney, but that doesnt mean they are good shooters.

They are effective in college due to their size. There arent that many 6'5 PGs in college basketball. They can bully around majority of college guards. But, you saw what happened when they played vs UConn. Napier and Boatright dominated them on both sides of the court. They were so much more quicker then the Harrison twins and it showed. That game exposed the flaws in the Harrison twins game. They dont have good lateral quickness and arent good defenders. And in the NBA, every PG is extremely quick and explosive.

Smart move to return. They need to get better at just about everything. Look at their teammateJames Young. Pretty much the same size and same %s as Aaron Harrison. But, hes a top 15 pick in the draft. Even though his FG%s are similar, hes a much better shooter and has a pure stroke. And his athleticism is off the charts. Hes extremely explosive. Ive said all year he will be the 2nd best NBA player from this team, behind JR. And he could actually end up being better than JR.

if WCS goes in the top 10, then i need to get on the fast track to becoming an NBA GM.

ETA: kentucky will be really good. they should be preseason #1. that's pretty much where any expectations should stop. that's a pipe dream, though.

I disagree with that. There arent that many guys in the NBA over 7'0, WCS is 7'1 with shoes on, and have the athleticism that WCS does. He can get up and down the court like a gazelle and can really jump.

Will he be an offensive difference maker? No. But he will be a difference maker with his blocks and rebounding, and the ability to get up and down like he can. He can be a DeAndre Jordan type of player in the NBA. And he plays a huge role and doesnt score that much. More ways to impact a game besides scoring.

He was the 2nd most important player for UK before he was injured IMO, behind JR. And he didnt make a big offensive impact. If he wasnt injured, there is a good chance they beat UConn. Napier and Boatright wouldnt have been able to penetrate and get to the rim as easy as they did with WCS in the game.

Players like WCS are in high demand in the NBA because there arent that many guys like him. He def could be a top 10pick.

Yeah I see a blend of Chandler and DeAndre Jordan with WCS. Isnt as strong as Tyson is, but is a bit more athletic IMO.

Yea ill def take it, especially against OKC. I dont care how we get it done, as long as its a W.

And its not like they are just beating them, they have KD playing the worst his played all year. And he is always so unflappable. And he DEF looks bothered by Tony Allen.

That said, OKC got screwed with getting Memphis This team won 50 games, and Gasol missed 23 games. With Gasol, they have a winning % of like 69%. If he doesnt get hurt this year, they def could have been a top 3 seed. If Gasol didnt get hurt, and they just win half of the 23 games he missed, they would have won right around 61 games. So they are the "7 seed", but when they are fully healthy they are a top 4 team in the NBA Just bad luck.

And Conley has been playing great all year. But so far in the playoffs, against Westbrook, he has taken his game to an entirely different level. Hes been huge for the Grizz, on both sides of the floor.

Would be the worst top 10 pick ever. That dude is terrible.

LOL

Take a look at all the bad top 10 picks over the years. You won't recognize a couple names each year.

ETA:

The dude is 7'+ and is extremely athletic. If he adds some size and strength he is a defensive force in the NBA.

It's like that in every league

after thinking about it, this is going to be really interesting for cal and kentucky next year. they are gonna be old as shite. no more young and inexperienced narrative.

also, can we kill the "cal gets guys to the nba" narrative? ive said that before but these coaches are nowhere near as important at getting elite guys to the league as people seem to think. unless you wanna believe that cal somehow didn't appropriately prepare poythress, WCS, johnson, and the harrison twins for the nba, which would make you an idiot.

Why would we do that when he's going to potenially put two in the lottery?

The narrative that growth doesn't happen under Cal is just as "dumb" if we're throwing out narratives.

When Josh Harrellson makes the NBA it is enough to say Cal gets guys to the NBA.
