Good luck to her. Tough choice I'm facing right now. Biglaw and money, or small firm on the northshore and less money + more freedom/better life.
I'm going with the latter. I totally understand why people opt for the former, but just not for me.
She compared the hours expected from the big firm to the smaller one in NOLA she is doing a summer associates with this summer
not much difference other than the paycheck
good luck to you as well. She is happy that process basically over with for her

Summary - Don't go to law school unless you get into a Top 14 school.
You have better odds in med school or a top MBA school.
So, someone who doesn't get into Harvard Law should just switch gears and go Med School. Good call.

Ah damn well good for her. I am too man. I'm exhausted with being in school. Probably just because we're in the middle of finals right now, but I'm ready to be out.

Such false. Much dumb.

I did biglaw right out of law school, the money is good, but my quality of life was terrible. I work for a company now making slightly more, I left some big bonuses and more earning potential on the table, but if I break it down to hourly pay I make a lot more now, and I can actually take a vacation and enjoy it these days instead of worrying about making up billable hours.

The most recent employment figures for 2013 law grads just came out. They are interesting.
Not a good metric of a quality law school. I judge a law school based on the legal writing program, the moot court program, the tuition costs, and the overall satisfaction at the school as rated by law students. Any other metrics are not accurate and shouldn't be looked at.

I disagree; you've also got to consider the quality of the weekly happy hour. Is it free well drinks from 6 to 8, or do they just set out a keg of Natty Ice and some solo cups?
Obviously BYU ranks very low on this metric.

I feel like this statement is being disingenuous. I think BYU students are very happy with their law school as they generally a very happy bunch (and fit as well with all of that bike riding). But a moot court program and a legal writing program are essential components of any successful law school.

Are these your metrics because Southern apparently has a decent writing program?

I do not know whether the Southern University Law Center has a good writing program. However, can you honestly say that legal writing and being able to effectively argue are not critical skills for an attorney? If SULC happens to have a good program and the students love the school, whose to say its a bad school?

The better question is how many billable hours have been spent on TD just with this thread?

Probably none. Apparently no recent graduates have jobs.
