Not a bad summary. I think bankruptcy is a good racket as these guys become trustees and all appoint each other as the attorney for the trustee and suck all of the money out of the estate with their fees. But, unless you're in that club, I think you're just a low level guy grinding out personal bankruptcies.
The only guy I know in law whose job I even remotely envy is my best friend had a great gig at an IP place where he got to pump out his stress fee patent applications, yet he shared in the wins on the plaintiff's cases that the other guys litigated. And even he got tired of the c-cuckers at that place and moved on.

Oh, I'm just screwing around. It is kid stuff if you can read. That's essentially what lawyering is, being paid to read for other people and write things back. Law school was about 80% as fun as college. Lots of partying.

Forgot about Bankruptcy, Disability and Social Security cases.
Plus, I'm pretty jaded in my views so they are more cartoonishly described than reality, I'm sure.

The best law gig out there IMO nobody ever really discusses is healthcare insurance.
I'm not sure that's something you specialize in or just fall into but every lawyer I know that deals with public insurance or private insurance makes absolute bank for the amount of work they do.

I cannot even describe to you what is going on with health insurance at the moment. It is a huge cluster and it's going to make some people absurdly rich.

Trust me when I say this:
The best law gig out there is a MUD (Municipal Utility District) attorney. Really no need to develop clients because there are only a handful of MUD lawyers in existence in the area. Bills get paid without fail. Billable hours are more formalistic than completely necessary. You rarely deal with other lawyers or get into conflicts. It is a sweet gig if you can get it.

I work with a lot of public health programs. I'd be popping bottles every weekend if I had a law degree right now.
This job pays me high five figures right now. You could add another 60 onto that if I had a JD right now with my experience. Easily. I'm only 28.
Our lead counsel shows up maybe 30 hours a week and pulls in 185K a year.

being a lawyer sucks in some way or another. No lawyer actually really loves their job. If they say they do, then they are lying.
It is a job that pays that bills. most people go to law school because they really have nothing else to do coming out of college (people with majors such as political science, general studies, or history). They are young, and because most people think that lawyers make a lot of money, decide to go to law school. Then, if you finish school and pass the bar, you get a shitty job at a firm or in public service. Then you spend the rest of your career endlessly trying to find a better job at another shitty firm. The pay is never as good as they expected it to be when they were young and the market is ridiculously saturated with other lawyers.
Some people might decide to open their own practice. They will do well, but never retire and spend their lives trying to pay their overhead.

I went to UF law for the tax LLM. Getting accepted is hard, and the homework load is brutal to keep up with in case you are called on in class, but they pretty much gave everyone their B average to move on and bring in the next class. We had pretty good job placement, but there were several from my class that didn't have jobs upon graduation and several that would have been better off just working anywhere out of law school and not taking on the additional debt.

Most of the happiest /most successful lawyers I know don't practice law, but got into something else instead.

i'm a very cheerful person. i just speak the truth and sometimes the truth hurts.
i wouldn't recommend anyone going to law school or being a lawyer. For the most part, you spend your time communicating with people who think they know it all or sleezy people that are on the other side of your case trying to f*** your job up. These people I speak of are other lawyers. It is an adversarial system and just not fun.
