Favorite hacking game mechanic

Considering it is my favorite game all-time, I'll give Chaos Theory the nod. Not sure if I really ever understood it, but it was still fun
I picked up ME2 super cheap for the PS3, and I'm really liking the hacking/bypassing in this game. Not too complicated, so maybe that's why.
On a side note, I absolutely hate it in Bioshock. Was so glad it was gone in Infinite.

Solid topic and easily discussable. I'll allow it.
Probably less than 1 page though. :/
Oh, and in the first Splinter Cell, sneaking up behind someone and detaining them so that you can use their eyes for the retina scanners.

The new shadowrun hacking mechanic is awesome. An entire portion of the game runs through it

I would have said this, but I got to the point where I just pick a random 3, if nothing, back out, start over. I like what they do with it, but IAGTFT.

What's with you starting really shitty threads lately? Or has this always been the case, and I just didn't notice?

That's what winning POTY will do to someone. shite just goes straight to their heads.

I think Fallout 3 had the best one but you can, of course, ruin it with save scumming. In fact, you can do that with any game that lets you save anywhere.
I actually didn't mind the little water puzzle game used for hacking in Bioshock. It just got way too easy too quickly.
I also liked Deus Ex: HR's hacking game and Bionic Commando Rearmed had a fun one too, but the game needed to be on hard to make it interesting. Otherwise, it got too easy like Bioshock and then just became a chore.
Probably the worst one I can think of is Mass Effect 1, where you just pressed buttons that came up on screen. That just felt so lazy.

I don't remember if it was to actually hack something or not, but I loved this. It might have just been an ordinary puzzle. It obviously wasn't a dedicated hacking mechanic, they did a die roll for that, but I feel like it was to hack into a specific story console or something.
But again, I could be wrong.

What game, or do you not know that as well?

It could be KOTOR, but I might be remembering incorrectly.
(I'm not)
Premise was you had to move the colored discs from each column to stack them in the proper order.
