Disability leeches and moochers

Saw on the news that some lady who claimed she was 100% disabled was caught on the Price is Right spinning the big wheel for the Showcase Showdown, also running down the stairs when her name was called, and jumping up/down and hugging Drew Carey
This is why I am skeptical of everyone on disability, I know there are some people who really are paralyzed or disabled, but it seems like there is a lot of people who lie and aren't really disabled, but claim it anyway and get awarded the disability payments.
The worst are the people who claim a mental disability. That can be faked easily.
There needs to be a law that anyone who lies about disability has to pay back all of their funds in full then get their asses thrown in jail for a few years to think about what they have done. If I went to a bank and robbed it, I would get a lot of years, how is robbing taxpayers any different?

You should be. I know people that work in dealing with disability claims. A decent number are actually injured but far too many see the dollar signs.

Something similar happened at my place of work. Guy got hurt at work, back injury. Filed a suit against the company and won. Said he was disabled to do the job he was hired for because his back was forever injured. Got something like 1.5 million.
Several months later he was photographed by company detectives chopping firewood in his back yard. I'm pretty sure some kind of resettlement was made with him returning much of the money he had received.
In something similar, guy at work called in sick for his weekend assignment. So what happens. Guy's picture is splattered all over the sports page in the paper Monday showing his prize catch of bass in a tournament he won. Cost him his job.

Nice
Government agencies need to see this

I live in a neighborhood that has several retired Air Force officers. A couple years ago I was sitting with about 3 that was discussing how to get disability benefits going before retirement. One Lt Col gets disability because of a sleep disorder that he developed within a year of retiring. This scumbag got a disability plate and everything. What really pisses me off is when he and his wife, that recently ran in the New Orleans Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon, parks in a handicap zone. Our country has lost its morals and convictions across the board.

A Church I used to go to, a guy who was on 100% "mental" disability would always come to the Church and volunteer to do things, such as help with construction or painting or cleaning or whatever
Can't really fault him for at least using his time to help a Church get work done, but I fail to see how his 100% disability could prevent him from doing the same tasks at a job. If he can hang drywall at the Church he can work a real job instead of claim disability

Government agencies need to see this
they don't care
disability is the new welfare. as welfare rules were tightened, government just loosened the regs on disability
thus, the same people are getting government checks, just from different agencies
i'd take fricking welfare over disability. parents forcing kids to do shite in school to get crazy checks destroys school systems. it's one of the worst things outside of rape and murder that a person can do in society

that was a good 20/20. Or all the PTSD cops from 9/11, many of which got $150,000 in tax payer sourced payouts.

People bitch about welfare and food stamps, but "disability" benefits are truly the most egregious examples of destructive waste. It's so. fricking. Huge.

Former postal worker busted

A former U.S. Postal Service employee in Anchorage was arraigned Friday on charges he accepted at least $334,000 in disability and worker's comp payments while he spent his summers fishing.

A 1.5 million dollar workers comp claim?

A guy that works in our store's warehouse came to me wanting a raise to pay his bills. Married with 5 kids. I couldn't,so he starts wearing a neckbrace and we get a letter from a lawyer on his neck injury[that we knew nothing about]. After 6 weeks he gets disability of $1200.00 a month for his neck injury[which was phony]. He came in and asked to keep working 4 days a week, not 5, since he got his "check". There was nothing wrong with him. What's worse is another guy in our warehouse did the same thing, copied him, and he got disability too. 2 guys started drawing checks, but, they kept working, loading and unloading trucks 4 days a week.

Guy who used to clean our office bldg. was on some kind of disability that allowed him to make only so much money. He worked 4 hours a day, three days a week.
I think the meaning of "disabled" has been redefined.
I can understand if you were highly skilled and can no longer do that work, and have to accept lesser work. I'm not sure I would consider that "disabled" though. Most folks who are "disabled" that I know are capable of working, but restricted from the work they are suited for by physical, mental or motivational reasons.

Anybody else getting the "Apply for Disability" ad at the bottom of the thread?

If a comp claim and an injury settlement are considered the same, then yes.

My wife is a nurse and worked for years in cardiology research. People would volunteer for studies on cholesterol, heart disease, arrythmia, etc... Almost daily, she would have someone come in with disability papers for the doctor to sign. Obviously able bodied people thought that because they had bad cholesterol, they should be declared permanently disabled.
If the doc refused (and he almost always did), they would drop out of the study - presumably to go look for another doctor who would sign the paperwork.

Anyone who runs any kind of business ... typically has to deal with this BS.
And it usually ends up being the sorry-arse workers that you'd expect would pull the phony BS ... but, every so often ... someone really surprises you in a negative way.
