Hang in there.
If you work hard and continue to add skills, etc ... you will succeed.
Don't succomb to being a victim.
Just view those other things as obstacles to beat.
A little good luck and never voting for liberals/democrats would help, too.

Funny that you don't blame the one person mostly responsible for you getting fricked over.
Sucker.

Horse shite, did you ever have a private plan?
Yes.
Premium was 160 a month.
Eligible for HSA linkage, contributions to which are tax deductible.
Perfect fit for the young and heathy.
And now illegal
Might want to have looked at what was available when you were shopping around rather than just trying to get the same kind of plan that you get at work.

before obamacare and the ability to leech off my parents insurance, I had a BCBS plan for a year for $70/mo with $30 copay on visits. I forget the hospitalization deductible.
point being there were some cheap arse plans before obo care.

Now we're getting somewhere. We are being ruled by insurance salesmen... Barack Obama being the Director of Sales.

I didn't vote democrat on the last election, I did when McCain ran because of Palin...
The solution lies somewhere between a Democratic and Republican view...

Call the phone number listed on the Healthcare.gov website. Let one of the technicians help you. I am confident you will find that you are eligible for an ACA subsidy.

I had a pretty good thing going until the big business supplying the software and most of my "leads" to job offers started to do what I did. And took all my clients. Now I can go work for them for 1/3 the pay I was making, which is probably what I will end up doing.
So you were dependent on one supplier for your entire business? Ever heard about diversifying your portfolio? You do the same as a business.

Connect the dots for me here, point A is your small business going under and point B is death. How did we get from point A to point B?
Bottom line this for me without another rambling accusatory monologue.

I charged less than what the big business charged actually... the problem was they made the software too... so they gave a discount on their tech support for the software if the customer signed up to use their hardware, that was dentrix. Also, the "salesman" that sells dentrix and the software, also sells every other product dentist needs... he works for a company called Henry Schein... He used to sell me... but since the big business he represents started doing what I do he has to sell them... But he has mentioned he can get me a job several times. Softdent on the other hand can be user friendly, but has serious issues... And pays zero attention to keeping in mind the customers and their customers interests.. like back up and hackers... if you go to a dentist and they use a program called softdent.. you might as well unzip your fly to let the hackers of the world suck your dick... for their software to work correctly you have to open numerous ports, have no antivirus software, and have windows firewall turned off... they don't even allow you run raid 1 to make sure a good back up is there...
Imagine it like this to a thief, you left your door unlocked and your social security number, credit card number, name, address, phone number, etc all laying out on the counter top. AND, they can walk in and steal it without any camera, witness, or even much evidence...
Think about all the info you give to a medical office... don't you wanna make sure that shite is protected? I did... and I charged for it... now... in most cases it's handled by people that don't.

I went to college for electrical engineering.. I had a 3.6 GPA at UAH and worked for a couple of Military Contractors and learned that I hated the job. I should have finished. I had 103 out of 120 hours left, but I just couldn't bring myself to do something I hated so much... I became a bartender for a bit, loved the job, made pretty good money, and almost managed to buy the place I worked at. But someone else beat me too it... Then I started working at a Dentist office when I moved back home... I took a office that only used 1% of it's "POS" system to using about 80% of it.. They went from completely paper "full" and chart "full" to all digital because of me... When I started they had 3 computers... now they have 15 I think... they don't use paper for anything now.
Anyway... rambling.. I did all this, led me to start a business, big business decided to do what I was doing... leads and jobs dried up... now I work for $8.50
At nowhere during this time did I want, need, ask for, or try to obtain health insurance that I didn't pay for... I'm ok with just dieing if I have to... would I like to be able to go see a doctor... yes... People that say your premium for a private plan is only $100 etc a month have ZERO idea how hard it is to survive off $8.50 an hour.

This is a PERFECT example of what Harry Browne was talking about when he said "Government is good at one thing; It knows how to break your legs, hand you a crutch and say 'see, if it weren't for the government, you wouldn't be able to walk'".

The government is not to blame... I'm tired of people blaming the government... the issues America faces are almost unfixable by the government... It's gonna take a change in mindset by everyone.

You got in a rut and forgot what sets you apart. Your confidence took a hit. Happens to the best of us. Get back on the horse and get creative again. You are talking like a pussy. Don't fall in with the people that squashed you. You know what your ability is worth. Don't let them pimp you and hand you back 33%. Either hit them back or do the same thing in another industry that you did for the dentist.
The same type thing happened to me in reverse. I got layed off and I hit the company hard by taking business away. Pretty soon they were throwing money at me. I moved on to something I enjoyed more, but my indignation opened my eyes and set a life-changing series of events in motion. It hasn't been all smooth sailing and I have been tempted, at times, to run back to the safety and security of working for someone else. The key is to not get comfortable.
