Invited to apply for job opening

Anyone ever had this happen?
The PA program director at my alma mater reached out to me about 6 weeks ago and invited me to apply for a faculty position. I would add that he was my faculty advisor when I was in the program and has since been promoted to program director.
Phone interview didn't go great IMO, but they've now invited me for a second all-day interview on campus in a little over a month.
Question is, has anyone here been invited to apply for a position? And if so, did you get the job or not?

FYI, if you are invited with a personal call or email, they want you.

What are you going to wear?

All of that is probably a formality. Job is yours unless you royally screw up.

Somebody had some loafers up earlier. Maybe wear those?

not that I recall, but was once asked to try out for LSU cheerleader.

Congrats on your new job.
Braggart.

what makes you think that?

It's probably different for universities, but in the corporate environment, people may get "invited" by in-house or contracted recruiters to thicken the resume stack. Looks good to their employers, even if it barely took the recruiter any time to find an appropriate candidate.
Outside of the obvious "I saw your resume on Monster and think you're qualified for [insert shitty cold-call sales job]" e-mails, I've been invited to apply for jobs that were actually in my field but required far more experience than I had.
But since you're being interviewed twice (and were contacted by someone you know), I'd say your chances are good.

Was trying not to come across as bragging. And I don't want to assume that I have anything in the bag. I have never been sought out for anything in my professional career until now so it's a bit of a trip.
Just seeing if anyone has had similar experiences and how did it work out for them. I would figure as long as I don't bomb the interview I should have a good chance of getting the job.
Was not happy with some of my answers after the fact. But I got the second interview so it's water under the bridge apparently.

My wife just had an in person interview yesterday with a panel of folks and they basically asked her to start yesterday. Now nothing.
Recruiter says she hasn't heard anything and can't get a hold of folks.
Very frustrating for my wife.

He had them on speaker so could post in the "19 gifs of animals knocking out kids" thread during the interview.

I would definitely interpret that as an omen.

I have a phone interview tomorrow for a position that would be a bizarre career change, but for a very good company. I usually tailor a resume, but this one was so out of my wheel house I just didn't. Never expected a call. I'm 40, and I've been searching for something with more longevity than simply being the smartest guy in the room, I don't have any sort of professional license or the like.
I'm in talks with the director of a company that does what I currently do but that would either be more travel or a year away. I'm sort of shitting bricks about this random phone call tomorrow. It's like having a first date and planning your life with her before you even pick her up. I need to just chill, it's just an HR interview.

My manager invited three people in my group to apply for a job. We all interviewed, and haven't heard the results back. Unfortunately it's a numbers thing so two people will be left disappointed.

2 of my wifes graduating PA class now work as faculty members for their alma mater. My wife and several others go back to lecture regularly on thier particular specialties.
At least at their school (UTMB), it seems to be pretty common.

well if its in a month it will be warm. so cargo shorts and a flat bill toonces hat should be fine.

I've thought about it. Two of the girls in my class are teaching now. Not at out school though. How much clinical work will you have to do?
