Looks like we are gonna turn the weekend into a few rounds of golf/tailgate. Any advice from local Houston people or those familiar with the area?

Three players ranging from a 2-7 cap. We are looking for a nice place under $220 per.

Can go up north a few miles and play Redstone, where the shell Houston open is played. I've played therea few times and its solid.

I'm not sure how nice it is but I've always wanted to play Tour 18 in Houston.

Whistling Straits

2015 PGA Championship will be played there.

eta: Sorry, I was thinking about 2016 when LSU goes up to Lambeau.

LINK

I have never played it but Houston has a place called Tour 18 that recreates 18 famous PGA Tour holes. See link above. I played The Woodlands many years ago which used to host The Shell Houston Open but that tourney has changed venue since. It was pretty good but I am sure Houston has some better courses since I last played over there...

You can see Wildcat from Reliant and it is a good layout. More of a links style. Where are you staying. That is probably the biggest issue. There are 100's of good courses but I wouldn't recommend driving all across town to get to them

Don't know if The Tour 18 is still as nice and fun to play as it used to be.

The Tour 18

Sorry didn't realize that others had beaten me to it.

Get as early a tee time as possible. Houston in August/September is going to be miserable.

This.

Hell, the entire south is miserable in August/September. The 1st few games last year were ridiculously hot

Sterling is not very nice. I was a member and lived on it up to two years ago so unless it's really, really turned around don't go there.

Hell Blackhorse is better than Sterling.
