How many of you are finding out you are "rich" in the eyes of your government?

Despite the fact that all of you are OT Ballers, I suspect that a number of you were rather surprised to learn that you were "rich" today.
Because, of course, the "rich" have not paid their fair share and should pay more.

Yep i had to mail uncle Sam a check and cut another one to the state What really floors me is that the child tax credits are phasing out completely next year so more than likely i will have to pay more next tax season.

Chances are if you are rich in the eyes of the US gov't, you are rich in the eyes of almost everyone but yourself and your peers. You may not feel rich but if you marginal tax rate is 33%, you are in fact rich compared to the nation, and the rest of the world.
But taxes do suck. I actually made a little bit less (about 4%) and paid a lot less this year (about 10%) in federal income taxes. Some of that was eaten up by the medicare surcharge though.

I thought they were expanding not phasing out the child tax credit?
Can you please post a link for the phasing out so I can read it?

That's minimum 180k+...
To say the least I don't quite make that and I had to pay more in.
The amount I had to pay extra was suspiciously about the same price as an AR rifle. :tinfoilhat:

Sorry for the hijack but there's a guy in my area that reminds me so much of you that, when I read your posts, I actually assume you look like him. Have to figure out how to post his pic.

That is one GOOD LOOKING dude, eh!
ETA: Don't answer that! If "NO" then, it'll hurt my feelings. If "YES" then, blatant fishing of that sort ought not be rewarded

Checking in. I fall into the millionaires and billionaires bracket but my income level doesn't show that.
frick Woodrow Wilson.
Obviously thrilled to pay my "fair share".

I am lucky enough to have accountants and tax attorneys in the family who are skilled enough to shift the majority of our wealth around so that we pay much less than what, uh, may be expected.
My personal income from my business isn't all that exceptional, but I sure do love the dividends from the family holding company.
