The Official Comic Book Hero Tournament Round IV (Voting Open)
Posted on 4/9/14 at 8:04 am
Posted on 4/9/14 at 8:04 am
The Rules:
1.) This is a two sided bracket. Each side contains 64 comic characters.
2.) The left side of the bracket will be Heroes the right side of the bracket will be villains.
3.) Each bracket will be comprised of 26 Marvel characters, 26 DC characters, and 12 misc comic/novel characters.
4.) Once all of the characters have been selected, the names will be entered into a random generator and spit out 1-64. The match-ups will be set regular seed style (1 vs. 64, 2 vs. 63, etc.) Please note that the number does not represent their seed, but instead the number they drew.
*** Do not be surprised to see Cyclops vs. Rick Grimes in Round I
5.) The voting system will be a simple check mark system. You will simply select the name of the character you think would win each match-up. I will go off of the general consensus. If there is an instance where the voting for a particular match-up is close, I will open the floor for members to make their case for who should move on. I will have the final say in such situations, but I promise to be as fair and impartial as I can.
6.) All voters are asked to put bias to the side. We must assume that these match-ups are completely random (As if it is the first time each character has encountered the other character.) Hopefully this will cut down on some of the knighting... cough Batman cough...
***So it would probably be safe to say that Batman would not be walking around with the Muramasa Sword.
***In the case where you have characters who cannot be killed by normal means (Wolverine, Deadpool, Thor) then a knockout or incapacitation will count
-Hulk Vs. Thor (whoever could knock the other one out first or incapacitate)
-Wolverine Vs. Deadpool (Same)
-These are just general examples
7.) Each character will be considered to be at their peak with no additional augmentation.
***Example: Cable w/ his technorganic virus under control, or cyclops w/ full control of his optic blast. No Nova with the Worldmind & Full Nova Force or Doom with The Beyonder's powers.
8.) No God Tier Characters

So I have made an executive decision.
Due to the stalemate we find ourselves in, regarding the villain bracket, I have decided to finish out the hero side.
(This is a nice way of saying it quickly became a hot mess burning inside of a dumpster fire.)
We will retain the final eight participants to face off against the final eight participants in the villain bracket once we have declared a winner in both.
The voting for this round will stay open for 24 hours once the match-ups have been set.
Once again this round will be randomized. This will be the last round we will randomize. At this point the heroes will be assigned a seed 1-8. I will randomize it, because if we had to seed them, this round would never happen.
I would also like to remind the field that the versions of these characters have been set. No bitching! Also, no augmentations!

My suggestion is executive order. That's how you settle these things. With an Iron Fist.

Soon enough, to be honest, this will give me a little time to decide what I want to do.
I am leaning toward keeping the heavier hitters in.
I feel that the heroes remaining could hold their own vs. them.
Well maybe not Flash!

Round IV
Match #1
Seed #1: Hulk (Planet Hulk) Seed #8: Thor
Great classic matchup. Could be persuaded to change my vote as could go either way.
Match #2
Seed #2: Shazam
Seed #7: Ms. Marvel
Match #3
Seed #3: Flash
Seed #6: Black Bolt
I think flash's ability to go far faster than bolt's sound based attacks is the key. The speed of sound is a snail's pace to him.
Match #4
Seed #4: Firestorm
Seed #5: Superman
With prior knowledge firestorm could easily win by creating kryptonite or red sun radiation.

Guess it has to be Hulk since we've built him into an unstoppable monster
Shazam
Flash :eyeroll:
Superman
Flash goes down in the next round.

While I agree that he could get to BB before BB opens his mouth, can he actually hurt BB once he gets there? Can he vibrate his hand/arm inorder to pass through BB's chest and rip out his heart or something?
And does Planet Hulk face off against Thor in the comics? If so, what was that outcome?
ETA: I'm leaning towards Hulk and Flash, but I can be persuaded otherwise.

I think most everyone ended up agreeing on keeping the 4 villains in question on the last couple of pages.

No, we were all over the place!

he could do this. also, the faster he goes the harder the hit. just laws of physics. so when he really gets going he can land a serious blow on even Superman.

You're right on the 2nd to last page. But if you look at that last page, everyone seemed resigned to keeping them.
I guess you could open up another thread for everyone to vote on it (no comments, just a yes/no vote) while the new hero round is being voted on.
