I think it would be pretty cool to go through the villains down to their final 4, then mix the two final 4 combatants some way. Maybe pit the final 4 heroes against the final 4 villains or something.

big is doing both because he's awesome.
So we're going down to 1 on each side so at least the tournaments can claim singular victors in their respective moral levels.
THEN, we'll take the final 8 from each and mix them up.
The problem with villains is I think Half of the Marvel villains included would straight up crush all the remaining heroes. Some could probably take 2 or 3 on.

This! Heck, you could probably pit the final four heroes against the final villain and it would probably be a pretty even fight.
