When you allow it to happen. I'm 48 and don't feel old at all.

When I was in my 20s, 30 was old. At 30, I thought 40. Now in my late 30s, I believe 50.

the average person begins "old age" in their 60s. to me it means when you are no longer able to do things that a healthy adult person can, just because of your physical decline. some people, particularly those who live sedentary lives, will reach this point much sooner in their lives. my uncle, who is in his mid 70s, can do a lot of shite that my 40-something coworkers can't do. he has not reached "old age" yet to me.
ETA: i'm 30.

quote:I disagree strongly. My grandmother at 80 traveled then world, did the crossword in two minutes flat every morning, and was active 16 hours a day. Her mind, eyes, and ears were sharp and her hair was red. She had no illnesses, not even hbp or arthritis.
When you allow it to happen.
Now a few years later she exhibits every old person attribute. She's infirm and senile.
She didn't let anything happen. She doesn't want to be like this

When you see a hot member of the opposite sex, you are old when your initial thought is to set up your kid with said specimen.

It's all about perspective.
I am 32 and still think of myself as young.
I enjoyed being young, naive, and care free as a teenager. I really enjoyed my mid to late 20's traveling and spending disposable income like it was on fire, but all of those days ran their course. I don't feel the need to hang on to them or try and continually recreate that time in my life.
If you're content with where you are in life/age, you will never be "old", but rather right where you are suppose to be.

Well, yeah, at a certain point the body and mind just start to give. But, as you have seen, her active lifestyle allowed her quite a run of good health--moreso than the average person.
