I don't smoke now, but did in high school. I would hate if my kid grew up to have a masters degree and a good job by the time he was 26. Same with my buddy who I would smoke with, he is now a pharmacist.
See how anecdotes work?

I know many successful people that smoke pot.
Therefore, if you want to be successful and not a fricking bum... Smoke pot.

You should walk in to a corporate/law/investment banking/hedge fund office in NYC, LA, Chicago, SF, etc. and see all the Ivy League/elite university grads ripping lines of cocaine on a nightly basis, then following that act with a molly/coke/booze-filled weekend. These guys in their late 20s-30s need Cialis so they can get an erection with all that drug use. Are they not successful?

Yeah, everyone knows that smoking pot takes you down a path of destruction where you will never be successful.
Wait a minute.....

Because some of us young conservatives support freedom

With that line of thinking you should walk through any large city and find the vagrants, bums, homeless and watch them panhandle, beg, and steal just to get their next fix. Watch the prostitutes suck suck some fat guys herpies infested dick so she can get 20 buck for a rock. Poll them and ask them if their addiction / habitual drug use played a part in the bad life choices they've made

Kind of like when disenfranchised groups were "showing off" when they finally got the right to vote?

Yes it's safe to say that younger people are more for legalization than old people.

I'm successful and I experimented with weed maybe, 28-29,000 times...

Weed is tight!

What's going to happen is the Washington and Colorado are going to report the taxes made from sales. At that point, states like Louisiana are going to hop on that bus faster than a cat can lick its arse.
It will never be about the weed. It will be about the revenue made from it. Just like casinos and lottery tickets.

Legalization should be left up to the people, not the politicians. A vote of the people should determine it.

I'm surprised there is not a bigger push on the federal level. The state laws in contradiction of federal law means they don't hold water. Thats fine with the current administration, but if we can ever get a republican back in office, I have a feeling the states that have legalized it will be in for a rude awakening.

Nothing like the ol conservative "We're all for lessening government, unless it's one of our MORALS! RAAAWR".

The argument is that drug usage isn't going to determine if you're going to be successful or not. Not that drugs make you successful.

Blahhh. It makes me hate that I lean conservative on so many issues.
