That's awesome. I am trying to get down from 215-220 to about 195. I look athletic and decent right now but Id like to be smaller.
Just hate running with a passio

I was at 250 a couple of months ago. Right now hovering around 225. I'd like to get down to 215 or so and lean up a little bit.

I've read enough to be convinced unless you're engaging in hours-long grueling sessions of exercise daily, the calorie burn is negligible.
The quickest way to achieve weight (and subsequently, fat) loss is via diet.

I also hate jogging with a passion. My cardio comes in the form of spinning. I tried it about a year ago and fell in love with it.

Shut down the drinking, started marathon training. I feel great but i'd really like a beer. Give and take.

Threw out/gave away just about all the crap in my apartment that isn't absolutely necessary. No decorations, clutter, pictures nothing. Place looks almost uninhabited and I feel so much more organized and clear headed.
Set reminders in my phone to remind me to text or call friends that I don't see much. Can't recommend this enough
Wake up 30 mins earlier than necessary. not rushing right from to start of the day has a huge effect on my attitude

Do you wake up easily every day now?
Yes. I routinely wake up at 7:30 AM nearly every day. I almost exclusively wake up before my alarm clock, even though I always set it. I am typically relaxed and ready to start my day.
Also to add one more thing: I've started drinking 1 gallon of water every day. I urinate often but the closer I get to the 1 gallon the better I feel at the end of the day.

I got a DE safety razor as well. Very nice.
I've been doing this for a while but I'll share incase someone might want to try. I wake up 40 minutes before it's time to leave. I get ready in 10 minutes. I go back to sleep for 30 or sometimes just lay awake in bed. Then I get up and leave. I feel awesome after laying down for 30 minutes.

Slowly been cutting back on bad food. I eat mostly meats, vegetables and nuts now. No alcohol, no soda, no candy and such.
Occasionally I'll eat a burger, wings or pizza one maybe two nights a week.

Totally agree with audio books and podcasts. All free (and legal). No Agenda, Backstory, Freakonimics, Moth, TAL, Radiolab, etc.
Related: I don't watch TV any more -- don't have cable. Select series online and occasional movies.
Stopped getting haircuts or shaving face close (the latter is old habit). No. 1 guard all around.
Cold-brewed green tea all day long. 3 Kirkland bags make two days worth of tea -- just keep refilling a big tervis w water.
Coconut oil. So many daily uses (nofap lol)
Raw almonds all day every day.
Writing on yellow legal pads instead of laptop. Things flow better for some reason and fewer distractions.
Merrell trail runners for pretty much everything from multi-day mtn backpacking trips to road running--also running with forefoot strike.
No social media (except td of course if that counts)
Emailing self even seemingly trivial thoughts that can be used in writing.
Cauliflower "rice" and "potatoes" (not daily but close)
Back with more shite I'm implementing.

Started taking classes on Coursera.
Quit drinking myself to death.
If I could just change my job I'd be good to go.

I'm so far behind on things. Where do you get audio books and podcast? Are they the same thing? Just put on a cd? I don't have mp3 or anything.

You can buy audiobooks but if you have a smart phone (and a lot of non smartphones) you have an MP3 player and you can download them. Otherwise you can buy audiobooks online. Podcasts are pretty much electronic only
Alternatively download them then burn them to CDs

your local library should have an ebook and audiobook system. sign up for it.
most use Overdrive. You can use an iPod, iPhone, Android, PC Mac, various MP3 players, and usually burn to CD (although I recommend taking a little bit of time to get away from this archaic method).
For podcasts, I've only ever listened on phones and mac/pc. On Android, I use BeyondPod player. It's a little quirky but ultimately easy to use. For iPhone, you just download the Podcast app. on macs/PCs just use iTunes store (they're free though--at least the ones I listen to).
You'll need to research online to see what interests you, and then search for the podcast names you want. You search for them in the store and then they show up under Podcasts.
NPR and affiliates have a ton. But I recommend a healthy dose of No Agenda as a mainstay--then again, i may have an agenda.
iTunes U is a good source too. Also a lot of universities have online materials.
And someone above mentioned Coursera. I've never used. Checking out now!
Again though, figure out a way to get away from CDs--pain in the arse and will just hinder your listening and learning!

Bedtime routine.
8pm: Kids go to bed
8:30pm: TV goes to classical music, phones/computers/devices go off. Wife and I read, perhaps with tea or a single glass of wine.
In bed by 9:30.
That hour really sets me up for better sleep and has really reduced stress.
One other thing, setting a Sunday "curfew" where we have to be at home, relaxing (not doing chores) by 3pm. It's too easy to get caught up doing weekend chores or caught up running around town for fun - and you end up just tired by the end of your Sunday.

Just wanted to add that I got some bright arse fluorescent lightbulbs for my room and if you're a student, DO THIS. Makes it so much easier to work, both for your eyes and mentally.
