Today I met a cab driver in Calgary that was from Eritrea. I had to look it up on my phone because I didn't know where it was or anything about it.

Csb. Eritrea is a part of the Horn of Africa, which is a region famous for providing cab drivers to us. Welcome to the world and the 20th (and 21st) century.

Well, where is it? It's late. Don't make me google.

I met a guy from Iceland once. Not a very obscure country but definitely not one you hear about very often. Kinda like meeting someone from Delaware.

The woman I know from Eritrea is super nice. I met her the same week I kept forgetting Eritrea on the Sporcle Africa quiz.

Not off the top of my head

But, I was talking with a client this morning, and he was born in Florence and his wife is from the same town I stayed in for a summer. A small hill town SE of Rome.

I work overseas so I run across people from unusual places on the regular.

Unrelated but yesterday on my commute home from work there was a crazy African man running down the street butt naked.

I was in the same class at Squadron Officer School back in the day with a pilot from Cameroon. Guy was obsessed with american tv and used to fall asleep in class everyday. He finally got a stern talking to and would then stay awake 'most' of the day.

by obscure, do you mean smudged on the map? Always covered in fog; can't see it from an airplane?
