Recommend a type of rod, type of reel, and type of line for each situation

In preparation for the summer I am considering getting a new rod and reel. I have a spinning reel on a 7' medium heavy rod, and a bait caster on a 6'6" medium action rod. I have always spooled both with mono. Recommend a general set up for each of the following situations.
1.) Wade fishing
2.) Topwater
3.) Popping cork

You already have that what you need.

Use that spinning reel for popping corks, and that baitcaster for topwaters. I'd buy a 7' medium light rod and a chronarch for soft plastics

What sort of wade fishing are you doing?

Put braid on your baitcaster. Buy another so you can have them each rigged for cork, topwater and jigs. Less time line tying.

I really can't think of anything to add that would be better than what you already have.

Yeah braid. Put some braid on a spinning reel and you will cast longer by 10-15%. Of course then use about 20-24 inches of fluorocarbon shock leader. The newer, better quality spinning outfits are made for braid.

Shimano Sahara spinning reel on an ugly stick and a revo sx on an ugly stick.
I really just want a new/lighter rod, but then I will have an extra...........so naturally I have to get a reel for it

Like said...you have what you need
Well then go big and buy a Waterloo rod and a shimano chronarch reel spooled w braid. Perfect for wading and top water.

If you want a light spinning rig then a Shimano Sustain 3000 with a Loomis Greenwater M/H 6 1/2 is super light. Spooled with Finns Windtamer 6lb dia 20lb test and you can fish all day and cast a mile. I use Seaguar or Berkleys Vanish 20 or 30lb fluorocarbon shock leader using a uni to uni knot.
I you haven't used braid before there is a learning curve. Make sure you spool it SUPER tight. It's OK to cut a 150 yard pack in half and put on 75 yards with backing. And, try to close the bail manually and look down at the spool to make sure there is not a loop of line over the bail.
Now, if you're headed to Venice to catch 50, 15-35 pound redfish you gonna need to bring at least a 6000 reel.

I prefer the spinning reel setup for wadefishing, since you can generally cast further out. I have spider wire on my Okuma and haven't had any problems.
I prefer the baitcasting setup when fishing out of the boat.
