Rig me up for Fourchon/Offshore

I've never fished the area before. I am used to Dulac/Dularge where all I really need is some 1/8 oz. jigheads, shrimp and cracked crab.
What do I need for this area? I figure the marsh is the marsh but I am mostly asking for offshore. What size hooks and weights, etc...?
Thanks,

Speck fishing is the same. What are you targeting offshore? How far out?

What do you want to catch offshore?
Red Snapper?
Mangrove Snapper?
Lemonfish/Cobia/Ling?
Grouper?
Tuna?
Mahi?
Tarpon?

Negative. I am going with a large group who has and they should have most of what we need. I just didn't want to show up empty handed. I've got my rod rigged up with 50lb braid at the moment.
I was primarily concerned with the right size hook and weights. From what I gather, we will be using live bait primarily.

Show up with some 6/0 or 7/0 circle hooks and a nice roll of flouro 50#. If you don't feel like you're bringing enough, cut chunks all day. Your friends won't care that you came empty handed.

Buy some hooks, line and weights. Ask if yall will need more bait. Pogies, squid, etc.
We had this happen last weekend with two people who showed up to the boat with nothing. Didnt even offer to buy weights or baits. Drank all the beer too. Gave everyone else the red arse.

Bring the boat a badass fish bat, a billy club. Those are always needed on tuna trips and sometimes get left on the dock.

Bring a pistol. If no one brings one it makes catching sharks wayyyyy more fun.

I don't have tuna equipment to bring, but you bet your arse I'll cut bait all day and only hit the bean bag at 3:00 am. I hate bean bag riders, but every trip has em.

Nothing wrong with riding in a bean bag. Not everyone can be in the back tieing hooks and line. Its not offering to help (even if you do not know what your doing) that's the problem. One of these guys did not want to get his hands dirty with bait. He accidentally was hit with some chum.

The guys on the boat that ride the bean bags 75% of the trip and never get up except to open the beer cooler. After I've worked my arse off chunking all day and I want to lay down, he's the guy passed out and won't move out the way so I can sleep at 3 in the morning.
It happens to me often.

If you want add beer to that, and you'll be called back for another trip next time they go. Volunteer to put up for some gas, and you'll become a regular.

Sure. That's a given. Who gets to go and not pay for gas? I want that trip.

Bring hooks, weights, flouro, beer and offer to put $100 towards gas and you will become a regular.

Ya but if you volunteer, I personally will have more respect for you than having to ask for money.
But ya there is no trip where gas is not put up for. Unless your going to fricking Narnia.
