So they are letting their rookie sit and not deverlop because they are tanking? You really think Noel will help them win any games this year if he is able to play?
Agreed. I don't think the reason Noel isn't playing is because they are trying to tank.

Okay, sure, they let one draft dictate an entire roster overhaul
It's just a major piece of the puzzle. They got Noel from last year's draft. They will get a top 3 player this year and a good servicable player with the Pels pick in the 1st round as well. They will also have a lot of cap space to good after I believe two max contracts. Their future looks a whole lot brighter than the Pels that's for sure.
Pels have three ball dominate guards, one of whom can't shoot worth shite and the other doesn't give a damn about being around here. They have a massive holes at the 3 and 5 positions and they also are cap strained with no draft picks for this year's draft.

The Pelicans are not as bad as you make them out to be.
Philly doesn't even have a superstar like the Pelicans. MCW is a role player at best an no one even knows what they have with Noel. Noel right now is a skinny defensive project.
The Pelicans are also in a place where they can't just lure huge FAs to New Orleans without an already contending team.
Gordon is a legit starter who is about $5 million over paid. Holiday is a top PG in the league. Anderson is a top stretch forward in the league and will compete for sixth man of the year when healthy. Evans is showing out right now and I think it isn't fair to condemn him yet.
Rivers, Withey, Ajinca, and Morrow are also solid bench player and young prospects.
The Pelicans should have the MLE to hopefully address another defensive big man.

Why? You are saying the Sixers draft picks will pan out and will be really good players and the max contract players will just be awesome right... Keep dreaming man. No chemistry or anything needed. Think the Pelicans problem is chemistry and take one guard out the picture and we have a great future.

Easy answer... We are too far away from the bottom five teams in the NBA to ensure we will get our pick this year.

Probably

Questionable

True, but cap space does not equal good players.

How did you trick him into saying something so dumb by arguing semantics? Impressive

When you got Anthony Davis, you can never ever tank. Good Lord we are lucky to have him.

They sure had me fooled for a few weeks there.

This 3 game win streak is fools gold. Keep in mind who we have beaten in that streak.

Because winning begets winning and losing begets loosing. But fans don't realize this

Noel won't be any decent for at least 1 year(probably longer) you'd wait two years for an average nba center(with one knee mind you)?
Why would they chose philly over BOS/LAL/CHI(after boozer goes)?
And no it's not much brighter at all.

Jrue did not "dominate" the ball. He averaged 8.0 assists/got guys open and knocked down shots while playing D.
If you've actually watched tyreke lately, his shooting has improved a good deal recently(50.6 FG/36.0 3PTFG) and is regularly getting guys involved.
EG has his faults but he's probably gone in the offseason and i'm not worried about him. He's been pretty nice fwiw at hitting shots and hasn't been mopey(a shock i know).

Lake Wobegon effect? Seem to have a lot of above average players for a team that beat one .500+ team when healthy.
Holiday is an above average point guard, not a top PG in the league and if Anderson comes anywhere close to 6th man of the year, it's because offense is the only thing being considered. His bad rebounding and athleticism are almost as much of a liability as his scoring is an assett.

name the tanking teams of the past that are sitting at or near the top of the standings
Spurs tanked and got Duncan
Thunder tanked and got Westbrook (can maybe add Harden to that)
Warriors tanked and got Barnes
Portland tanked and got Aldridge
I could probably list some other teams that were just bad, but those 4 teams definitely tanked to get those players.

Well isn't that usually the case no matter what?

How did any of those teams tank?
The Spurs tanking has been debunked:
The Myth of the Tanking Spurs
The Thunder just weren't any good in Durant's first couple of years.
As for the Warriors and Blazers, that's just silly. The Blazers were bad for several years before the Bulls picked Aldridge.

They're trying to teach AD how to win. The organization feels its better off not having Davis loaf through meaningless games. Hate em or love em, Monty and Dell are still playing to win, whether your coonass likes it or not
Posted on 3/10/14 at 6:04 pm to NOLAbaby
Bc Monty is terrible at everything. He can't win when it it matters and he can't lose when it's beneficial. Like winning three late season games against other shite teams is going to make us forget how shite you are Monty. Yea right

3. Why would benson, demps and monty be cool with tanking, monty is coaching for his job, benson wants a winner and demps spent a ton to get/keep players on the team such as holiday, gordon, evans and anderson.
Bottom line, there is no reason for this team to tank, end of discussion
Benson's moronic win-now football mentality doesn't translate to rebuilding an NBA franchise and is the reason we're strapped with an unbalanced roster, little depth, and next to no cap space.
O and almost certainly no first round pick this year.
