I don't have the exact figures, but SG looks to roughly cover half of BR.
This makes 6 incorrect statements you've made in this thread.

Yes it does. They ARE the community. They have a vested interest in it being maintained whereas your national chains see you as nothing but a tit to suck on and when it no longer gives suck like it once did, they'll just move on to a new titty and leave you holding the bag.
This is why cities are starting to see a move back to urban areas. Chains and big corp are ruining the suburbs.
This man is spot on

In addition to seeing infrastructure improvements and the institution of a new city government and school system, St. George will feature no tax increases for existing residents. In addition, it will also be crime-free. A study is being commissioned to determine whether St. George actually cures cancer also.

I am a big fan of localized shopping and dining. I shop at small stores like Ralphs and eat at hole-in-the-wall restaurants where the owner lives down the street and supports their local area. I also support my local public high school and attend events there.
What else can I do to put back into my community?

That's the 6th time you've refused to accept my challenge.
Are you ever going to make a case for the quality of ebr public schools vs the local alternatives?

I'll answer your question if you first list the incorrect statements you've made in this thread and admit you were wrong about each statement.
Deal?
Deal?

They are the very same people who have kicked the can down the street in everything. It's nothing personal, but it is the mentality of that generation, and so if we don't learn from those mistakes, it's only waxing much worse when we kick the can to future generations to deal with, thus doing the exact same thing they did to get us where we are today. Nothing changes, especially our present realities, until we first change mental outlooks, and when what we see before you every day shows it didn't work, we have to at some point come to the realization that moving away from the problem isn't the answer since it follows us, and we help it follow us by building nonsense, zoning like knee jerk reactions, handing the city over to out of state companies that see us only as a red or black mark on a graph, and not caring what becomes of our city. That shite has to change if we have any hope at all of having a livable area to call home in the future. If not, expect much more of the same, and worse as it increases in intensity. That happens when as it gets worse, people move, and as it gets still worse, even more move, until it's become ghetto and we then write it off as we've been trained to, and just avoid those areas entirely, even refer to it as a different city.
Ok well you just keep your fingers crossed and keep on hoping that society will change and that the EBR school system will get better even though it hasn't in 30 years. I'll do whatever I can to ensure my kid has a better school to go to which for now is getting board with the SG breakaway. I've already signed the petition and I will continue to encourage others to do the same.

Society is changing, just not here, but then again, when are we up to speed on that?

He said "the parish". It's clear he's talking about EBR.
I don't think you need to distort his meaning in order to make an argument...yet you do it. Strange.

Still curious as to how Lionel Rainey and Bodi Whote scare companies and entities like L'Auberge, LSU, and the Mall of Louisiana more than MULTI TIME BILLION DOLLAR TAX RAISER Kip Holden.
How are those entities any "safer" from undue taxation under a Mayor/President who wants to spend BILLIONS in a Taxpayer Dollars-and has tried to do it twice-on a nature theme-park?
I'm still looking for anyone to address what makes Baton Rouge and BILLION DOLLAR TAXER Kip Holden a safer alternative than the proposed city of St. George...

So instead of trying to infultrate and overhaul the system, SG is willing to get its hands dirty and take on the challenge of solving its own problems.... addressing roughly half of the whole parish.

So, before we reply to a post we have to go back through the thread and cross reference every post the person has made to make sure we understand what he meant to write?
Yeah, that's not going to happen.
I'm not sure I undertand your compulsion to clarify what he meant a page before his post which I replied to.
You're strange.

The "real world" is just the cumulative effect of the people who live in it, for good or bad, sound minded or retarded. It should never be confused to indicate that it is a move in the right direction, just the world we make for ourselves, and can quite easily be directed positively or negatively depending upon the driving forces behind the thought processes of the people. In this case for sure, it's reactionary rather than makes any good sense. Want to change the real world, then change it. Don't want to, then settle for the effects of the real world as being out of your control, which it most certainly is not. In fact, it is us who make up what we see as our own realities. When you look around this place, what you see, for good or bad, is absolutely a mirror reflection of the people themselves. If we want to see that change, then change begins only with us making better personal choices every day.
I have no dog in this St. George fight but as admirable and commendable a post this is, this is just honestly word salad that has no way of being brought about into reality in ways that's not un-american as frick.
I respect your passion but it would be better served trying to convince the powers that be to let a new independent school district for St. George happen instead of calling out people moving away or creating a new city. It's the best middle ground both sides could agree to.

What have you done to try and change the way things are done?

The guy made a point. You didn't read that.
Then he clarified his point, and specifically address the "half of the parish" statement. You didn't read that.
Then you specifically called him out parsing his words when it was clear that you didn't understand his point.
That's on you. And, it's typical of you. In fact, it's so typical that I think it's a real possibility that you did read his posts, and simply pretended that you didn't so that you could point out an error.
Congrats. You caught him saying BR instead of EBR. Huge win.

You were wrong. I pointed it out. It shouldn't be that big of a deal. You really should admit it and move on.
