That would be 3-4 miles an hour...I can't imagine it drifting more than a mile an hour.
Imagine it - in a brisk current, it can do better than that - 5 to 6 knots, but an average of 3 to 4 miles per hour is very plausible.

I thought it would be verified by now. When I went to sleep they said the area with the debris had poor visibility and it could still take time to find

5-6 knots seems high to me. Not saying y'all are wrong just going off what I think.

Looking at the info coming out on CNN... Planes and a ship were unable to find the debris seen on the satellite image.
Could be because of weather or could be because it moved. But apparently they got to the area and there was nothing there

They couldn't find anything because it was a whale and it swam off

Kate Bolduan sure is cute.

Damn. Guy in Australia did say it could still take days to find.

Yes, indeed.

I have no doubt there are MUCH more detailed images that haven't been released. It's not possible the Australians would make this big of a fuss based upon what they released to the public. No way.

This would be a major blow to all the conspiracy theorists in this thread.
Would it? Let's assume this is the plane off the coast of Australia, tell me how this rules out foul play on a flight that was supposed to fly from Malaysia to Beijing?
About the only thing you can cross off the list if this is the plane is any theories that it landed in the Middle East or Asia.

I don't think it would average that, either. But over a few days, 3 to 4 wouldn't be outrageous (although it would be fast).
The debris from Fukushima traveled at about 7 miles per day, so much less than 1 knot. However, not sure about the currents and weather during that time.
FWIW this article suggests the Western Australia debris is estimated to have traveled at about 1 knot - however, I have no idea how they're coming up with where the plane hit the water.

What if they were going to crash into a city in Australia? It's possible they fricked around too much over the strait, and ran out of fuel before they reached down under....

So it's a fact that it wasn't hijacked?
Currently the only fact is that this plane is missing. No facts (yet) to support it crashed anywhere. No facts (yet) to support hijacking, suicide, mechanical issues, cloaking, it went into a black hole or anything else....yet.
IMO if it was hijacked and they have indeed found the wreckage, this is easily the dumbest hijacking ever....flying it until it ran our of gas!!!

What you know about the Bergen mall?
Posted on 3/20/14 at 8:32 am to TigerHam85
How is a planned hijacking not a conspiracy?

So did they find the plane? Or is it still missing?
