How has Graham given you the impression that he's going to halfass everything after he gets paid? He's one of the most fiery competitors out there, getting very emotional whenever he makes a big play. You don't go from leaving college having barely played football to being one of the best modern era TEs without working your arse off. What about Cam Jordan when we have to extend him in 2015? Vacarro 4 years from now? Who's to say that they won't just quit giving a shite when they get paid? Should we let them all walk?

By his logic, you should only resign vets going into their 3rd contact since you can't trust young talent

He wasn't in a contact year on 2012. I saw your response, but apparently you can't read. I mentioned the wrist injury in the post you responded too You're questioning his character when he's shown exactly the opposite of what you claim his entire career.

Ah okay, didn't realize you were talking about the year before last.

I guess you can say I'm questioning his character, yes. But injuries like that wear on a man, like you said, it's the most pain you've ever felt. I don't know if Graham is feeling that pain this coming up year that he doesn't sit out a game or two. He missed one last season because of it.

In 2012 he was still playing out his rookie contract. This is probably the last long term money type of deal that Graham will get. I think it's definitely something to consider when we find out what other teams offer him.

I don't think either of those players will command the type of money that Graham will. Who knows, maybe we won't be strapped for cash at that time either.

Cam nor Kenny has the PF injury that scares me about Graham.

If Cam Jordan continues to improve like he has, he will be pretty expensive come time for his new contract.

Nowhere near what Graham will get though. Unless he gets 15+ sacks, which is pretty difficult for a 3-4 end.

If Jordan were a FA right now, he would make right around the same amount in FA as Graham would. As great as Graham is, DE is just a more important position. Arguably the second most important in football behind QB.

No he didn't

Questionable two weeks
Probable three weeks
but played in them all

He won't. It's either torn, or they will tear it.

And he didn't miss a game

so you're questioning his character based on absolutely ZERO evidence. You're actually using the fact that he played through injury against him

If you gave me the choice of either JG or CJ, I'm picking Jordan.

He's arguably the 2nd best "3-4" DE after Watt. Watt will command mega money (I believe the top paid DE is 16mil/yr - Mario Williams) so Watt will command just as much.

Jordan's contract won't be Watt's (unless this year he comes with 15+ sacks), but I could definitely see him getting similar to what Greg hardy gets.

I don't even want to guess what Watt will command.

The dude is unreal.

My mistake. Must be thinking of the game where he played 20% of the snaps or whatever.

I'm not using it against him, you're missing my point.

This is 100% hypothetical. It's incentive based. So I'm saying for any player, there wouldn't be as much incentive to play.

I'm guessing you're not going to buy that either.

I dont know about that. Top guys are making around 8-12 per year in the 3-4 category.

He had 12.5 last year which was #1 for the 3-4 spot, #4 for DE spot, and #5 of all players (a LB was #1).

Unless he has a really off year, I assume he will be asking around 10 mill/year

that never happened either.

He played 27.4% of the snaps against Buffalo.
--Scoring 2 Touchdowns

He played 39.3% of the snaps against Dallas with 5 catches for 59 yards

Holy crap dude. I said 20% or whatever. My bad about the 7.4%...

I admitted I was wrong.

I understand your point. It is illogical, and you would never resign young talent. Hell, you could even apply it to Brees.

You can say that about any signing in the NFL. Sean Payton loves his character, and he's been damn good at evaluating that

I honestly wouldn't blink to sign a contract if he wanted 20mil/yr

The guy single handedly disrupts the game on a whole new level that I haven't seen in 20 years. He's one of the best pass rushers and run stuffers in a scheme where it's not a glorified and he puts up stats to back it up.

He "cooled down" this year, but the guy was still the #1 rated 3-4DE and racked in 80 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 7PD, 4FF, 2 blocked kicks and 15 stuff. That was after a 81 tackle, 20.5 sack, 16 PD, 4FF, and 23 stuff season.
