Me and my SO just had a baby not even two weeks ago and my friends are dropping like flies. I'm finding out quick who my real friends are.

They arent "dropping like flies" they just dont want to hang out with your baby.

One of my friends got a job he really wanted. but he's not getting rich and he works 18 hours a day every day of the week.
so yea I'm not the one settling down. opposite perhaps. but I still haven't seen him in a couple months

None. We never settled down. That's the worse thing a person can do. Hire a babysitter and do stuff with your friends. So many people get married and live like 80 year olds. I've never understood that mentality.

How about not constantly talking about your kid? That shite gets old quick for people without kids.

you always have your OT friends

It's possible they know you're elbows deep in newborn crap and want to give you a chance to get to know your new kid.

Never lost any friends. If you lose people, it's probably just drinking buddies and not friends. Which you probably should have lost earlier than right before the birth of your child, unless you're trashy.

Lately I've been losing friends because they're trying to settle down.

fwiw, that is probably because your interests shifted quite a bit when you became a dad....all that is on your mind is your new baby, and they can't relate at all....

This thread reminds me of THIS

They don't want to be a part of your life, frick them.
Same thing happened to me with a friend since 3rd grade. His gf of ONE MONTH cheated on him, asked me if I would still hang out with them if he took her back, and I told him I'd hang out with him, but not her.
Stopped talking to me all together, didn't even send me a pitty call when my grandmother who practically raised my died, and couldn't even show up to her funeral, even though his parents did.
When you learn about those who aren't your friend, it makes you that much closer to those who are really there for you.

They aren't real friends because they don't want to hang out with your baby? Ok.
