I received a Roomba in January as a late Christmas present from my wife on the advice of a friend that received one for Christmas.

Since then I've recommended it to two other friends and we all have the same viewpoint.

That damned little vacuum cleaner has changed our lives. You can schedule it, you can confine it to certain areas, it goes UNDER things and vacuums. We are all amazed at the amount of stuff it gets off of our floors. It may be the best thing I've ever received as a gift.

There is only one complaint about a Roomba. It doesn't do stairs. Other than that if you can afford one, buy it.

What about dog hair?

I'd pay anything to not have to maintain all the god damn dog hair.

I like the idea but if you have a cluttered area (lots of furniture or other impedances), how does it handle them?

Why is your wife buying you the vacuum? Something doesn't seem right about that.

I've had two and they were great until the batteries would no longer hold a charge. I'm a lazy frick and hate housework so I'm the perfect target market for these things. I absolutely loved both of the ones I had but the battery thing is a fatal flaw. Both of them also had issues climbing back up onto their charging stations but I could live with that if the batteries lasted longer.

my neato can kick your roombs's butt

dirt exterminator
comparison

unless it has changed since last year, the roomba cleans in a random pattern while neato has linear mapping.

anytime you ready, bring it on bro

We got one specifically for dog hair. We run it every day and have not had to sweep nearly as often. Really just mop every couple of weeks

I have brick paver floors throughout my entire house, which has an unlevel surface...Does either brand have a model for this application?

I hate that darn thing. It has beat the heck out of the baseboards. I would rather we pay the maid to come more frequently than to deal with that abomination

I want one so bad! I'm glad to hear they work. Is it rechargeable? I heard the batteries were like 100 bucks?

I don't know how people have dogs and function without one of these! I'm not going to lie - it's pretty entertaining to watch the thing go!

We love ours! Have had it a year and our floors are soooo much cleaner. I have a dog, cat and two young boys and if allowed to run everyday and you keep things relatively picked up it will work like a champ. I know that when this one wears out we will likely get another one. Hopefully that won't be for a long time to come.

I received one as a gift a few years back...I haven't used it recently, but when I have in the past, I realize how dirty my floors really are...it collects dirt/dust that most vacuums don't.

We use it mainly for kitchen floor...only pain is that we have to remove the chairs from the room since it can't get in between the legs.
