All of the schools under the University of Louisiana system

I thought Monroe and Lafayette were brought in under the Uni of LA system, but Northwestern, McNeese, Tech, Southeastern, as well as Nicholls kept their own autonomy. Just asking. I don't know organizationally how that is set up. LSU is called the flagstaff of the system, but I thought that was with ULL, ULM, Eunice and Alexandria. Have all the former above Uni's been brought under one governing board? or is it simply University of Louisiana system just a name change for all Uni's not affiliated with a religious denomination.

The difference is that Hammond is happy with whatever they get... ULL thinks they are big enough to contend with LSU.

Slu is part of the ul system, but voted to keep its identity of slu instead of becoming ulh. See we do not have a Napoleon complex like ULL. Slu is the second largest university in Louisiana. It is a level 5 institution that can grant doctorates and research does occur at the institution, but not anywhere the level of LSU as the r1 of the state. Slu's college of education is the tops in the state and has a national reputation.

Having a daughter at SLU, I've seen that it's a well run school that seems to be doing a lot of very smart things...

They are comfortable with their identity because they started as a local junior college that was funded by the city of Hammond...

I grew up in Hammond, graduated from LSU. I will never refer to it as SELU.

It is SLU and it is not even remotely debatable.

Just based on this thread, your statement is false.

I'm also from Hammond, graduating from LSU next spring and have taken a summer class at Southeastern. I also agree that it's definitely SLU and it's not really debatable

It was SLU when I first went and morphed into SELU by the time I graduated. I think the preferred term is SELU, but realistically, who gives a shite?

Thats pretty much every university not named ULL.

Our dean of students actually wrote a letter to the school newspaper, which no one reads, that we needed to have more school spirit in our own school and less LSU shite on campus.
