The way he is talking right now is that he wants quality not "quantity" of life. I'm not sure that I blame him but it just sucks.

Pancreatic cancer is bad news. Family member had the Whipple procedure but was gone within six months.

Don't know what portion of the pancreas is affected but my father in law was dx last fall and had the Whipple procedure last November and is currently doing great. Cancer did not spread to other organs or lymph system for him so that was a blessing.

Sorry to hear man. Cancer is the worst way to go, IMO. I hope the both of you are able to do a few things while he still can and leave you with some awesome memories.

Appreciate it yall. He's going Tuesday to see what can be done. He's going to fight it.

My mother in law is currently in remission from it. So there is hope.

That's a big part of it. Chemo and Radiation, plus many other pharmaceuticals, all have bad side effects. Some people are lucky. Others have to deal with cancer by itself, then the side effects from the treatment, which can be worse at times. They took a huge toll on my Dad's quality of life. Though everybody is different. I've also read of a older man that went in to remission from stage 4 pancreatic cancer after he started drinking a tea made from baking soda and blackstrap molasses. Others lucky ones have had success doing the same.

My best friend of over 20 years, El Josey Wales, was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer last October. He lived 47 days and I was in contact with him in some capacity up until 8 hours before he passed away. The only thing I can offer is this....
Be sure to be there for him offering comfort in any capacity every step of the way. The cancer fight is brutal for everyone involved. Nothing about it is fair and there is no way you can explain it. EJW never used tobacco in his life and this type of cancer killed him. It still does not make sense two and a half months later, and I'm sure it never will.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family.

Yea a friend of mine in his mid 30s has stage 4 lung cancer and never used tobacco. I remember discussing that with El Josey when he first found out about cancer in his tongue from a thread a while back.

Sorry to hear that man. I know Josey took great comfort from many posters here that never knew him, but reached out to show their support. Thank you for taking the time to have those talks.

He needs to go to a major center that treats pancreatic cancer all the time and does Whipple procedures every day. Don't let local hospitals jerk him around. His only hope is if it is early enough for the procedure to be done.

It sounds as though your Uncle raised you well. The both of you will be in my prayers. God Bless.
