I doubt it. He's basically described as such in the Bible.

I was going to go see it until I saw that it was pretty much a message on man-made global warming.

For a brief moment there, it looked like "Noah" was headed into some choppy waters. Reports surfaced last fall that Paramount and director Darren Aronofsky were clashing over the cut of the movie, with the studio concerned that the faith-based audiences they're aiming to bring out to the multiplex weren't responding at test screenings. But the waters have calmed, and with the movie washing ashore next month, Aronofsky's vision has won out.
Vomit.

I'm a christian and see no problem with him making his own interpretation of what really happened with Noah's ark. Some people believe it actually happened and some believe it's just a moral story of sorts and some people believe it is a complete myth which is fine too.

I do hope he at least respects the bible and its context and isn't just making the movie to poke fun or poke holes in Christianity.

I love DA but I'm not interested in this at all. I'd love to be wrong and I'll watch it if I hear good things but the trailer looked pretty weak to me.

I heard Aronofsky said it was the least biblical bible movie ever made. I was like wtf? I'm not interested in seeing a bible movie that's isn't biblical.

His interpretation of the story seems to be in line with the Bible, though it is his interpretation of the story and, therefore, may rub some of the more literal Christians the wrong way. But it is certainly based on the Bible and he explains why it is more fantastical than, perhaps, a story like the Passion of the Christ. He basically says it's more fantastical because the subject matter is more fantastical. You're talking about the difference between an historical figure being crucified, which we have proof of actually happening, versus the entire planet flooding as a result of God's wrath except for one family and all the animals that could fit onto a boat that magically didn't sink, which while there is evidence of a great flood, the scale and magnitude are unknown and the survival story of one man and the animals is a little more dubious.

He explains here, in the Atlantic, that the first few Bible stories have a far more fantastical bent to them than the stories that come after and that is what inspired this film. So it's biblical, but perhaps not in the way that some interpretations of the Bible would lead you to believe.

Just saw this movie.

I think the whole theater was bored to tears.

So insignificant it doesn't affect the story at all. As in, maybe 2 minutes of screen time, and no one cares.

It's getting mostly good reviews so far, despite the religious uproar.

Shocker that film critics would applaud something Christians and right wingers dislike.

does anyone else find it hilarious when the commercial for this movie comes on and one of the things they say to make the movie sound appealing is, "If you liked Gladiator and Titanic, you're gonna love this"

haha what?

I have not seen the movie, but I talked with someone that talked to an actor from the movie; he said it is bad (not as in bad good, but bad as in very bad).

Also this movie has been cut 6 different times, and not one of the cuts went over well with the test previews.

Russell Crowe + big boat

probably not enough people have seen "Master and Commander", had Crowe and the boat all wrapped up together

I saw it earlier today. Its boring as frick, and it was obvious every one in the theater thought the same. I can't recall too many movies I've been to, where, once it appeared the film had gotten to its final resolution, people were bolting for the door as if they couldn't wait to leave or watch the final minute.

I enjoyed that one.

Well, the final cut is going over well with critics. 76% Rotten Tomatoes, 68% MetaCritic.

I'll reserve my personal judgment until after I see it.
